I reckon it is worth the $199 even though there seem to be a ton of outbound links on all the pages I might be listed on. Gotta do business.com and botw but curious to hear what you think.
I know this isn't answering your question, but does anyone know if business.com accept non-business sites? I know that sounds silly, but bear with me. I have a content only site. When it is high in the SERPs for my key terms, I will monetize, making it into a 'business'. But until then I want no mention of anything to do with business on my site. Free content only. So, do you think business.com would let me in, with what appears to be purely a free content site at the moment? If they do, they would be helping me to become a business!
Business.com is not SEO friendly since 2003 or 2004, i would never buy a link there. If you look closely at: http://www.business.com/Legal.asp Do a roll over the links at the bottom and you see those are not static links but redirects, and this is not SEO friendly. It will never pass any Pagerank, but you might get traffic (this i don't know)... Still PR is all that counts on the web and if they don't spread it i can't buy stuff there
Some links on business.com are static, some are redirects. Our company got listed on there a month ago and specifically asked for clean, static links, and we got them. It is also one of the 'strongest' directories out there. It is just expensive!
Indeed one of the strongest directories. But there are some flaws on their directories that webmaster don't really want like not SEO friendly links. I'm glad that your link now is static and SEO friendly.
Well if we can have the privilege of asking for static links, i would say buy only if they agree on that. If not do not pay 199$ to get just 100 referals per month, it's definitely not worth it
It depends on the nature of the site, but generally for a business site I would say yes it is worth it.
I called business.com and they said that the directory links did not use redirects, that they were 'clean' - the ppc stuff is what uses redirects for the links I think
http://www.business.com/directory/real_estate_and_construction/property_listings/ example: Site: NYC Furnished Office Listings - Corporate Suites URL: http://rd.business.com/index.asp?bd...D080E9EA-FE47-4117-94B9-B688D356989C&bdcc=azh awesomely awesome... am i right??? am i right?? am i right? Now why would a supposedly 'featured listing' be redirecting like that? Are they just plugging the first 20 links with their own stuff? I mean as you scroll down, you actually do see normal listings using non-redirecting methods. That to me is just, well, shitty.
I once paid for a listing and it was good for seo. When my listing ran out it didn't ask for a renewal. I later tried to re-list it and I lost out because it is for B2B now, eventhough I was already listed there in the past with the same site. I wouldn't pay to gamble again with them ever.
its worth if you have good spending budget, and your product or service you trying to sell is of good value. like if your service minimum sale amount is $500, you are done if you get 1 client from business.com in a year.
The links at the top are PPC links, hence the redirect. The standard directory links are straight links. If you want a straight link don't ask for a PPC link.
