Europe has started the trend to ban Muslim women from wearing burqa. First, it was Belgium, and now France, with the french ambassador to India claiming it is a perfect decision from the french government.

Is there anyone who feel France has not done the right thing by passing such a resolution against the Muslims?

But how do you explain the whole day street agitation by the Muslims, who lined up the street to protest against the verdict.

well banning is quite an complicated term when it comes to burqa,
it could actually act as good and bad in both ways

good for the sense, women will enjoy more freedom
bad for the sense, the retarded males who feel their wives would be "hit" when ever some clown looks at their partners and they could get obsessed r turn into in pyschopaths

I am not a muslim hater but I am against some of Islam barbaric customs.

on a personal note, its a good decision most probably - now its an open decision and who are migrating to US can decide whether r they ready to give it up r they are going to skip their trip to france.

is it Islamic customs?
first time I saw burqa in Dubai 8 years ago.

I think banning burqa is right thing and isn't against Islam. who knows who is behind burqa and what carry. personaly I don't feel secure if someone near me cover his/her self entirely.

Does the ban involve head scarfs too? Like the nuns wears. If not, than its OK as per Islamic laws too. Hiding face with veil or Burqa is a cultural thing not any Islamic law. Islamic law says that women must wear modest dressing when going out. Nun's dress is modest and Muslim women wears similar dress when going to Hajj (Don't know why some goes to extreme by covering their whole face and hands veil and gloves) . No hiding of face behind veil.

What we have here is 2 reasons why this is cultural tradition or better yet, lets call it by what it is:
an ownership where woman is nothing more than piece of property and man’s possession.

First reason when husband possesses beautiful wife and get insanely jealous and fearful other men
will see that beauty and try to get piece of it.
Second reason when his wife is so unattractive that he is rather to keep her covered with burqa
to avoid criticism from his fellows’ men.

Because in our civilized world where women are equal such a cultural tradition is not acceptable thus I do believe
government have right and more so obligation to enforce that equality or we will be not any better than people
who are making women in their countries second class citizens.

:)

In a civilized world, it's an act of personal attack on the Muslims. Don't support it.

Of all the replies I have read here, I personally feel it is the Muslim's prerogative, whether to go for burqa, or not to go for Burqa. There was never a problem in all these years, but with the increase in militancy, state administrators feel that Burqa could be used as a veil, perhaps, to hide arms or other offensive instruments. This is the reason, Europe had begun reacting against Burqa.

still, I feel, you cannot hurt religious sentiments by obstructing somebody's religious faith. Burqa is an age long tradition, and you cannot expect to get it removed by simply passing a resolution.

Is that ban for the burqa that covers the entire face or also for the hijab that covers just the hair?

It's for the Burqa, as the reports suggest, I don't think covering hair would be much of problem. Anyway, hairs may get covered even by men during cold season, in the form of a hat.

I am not really sure about that
my friend came up with a total different logic, why burqa was worn by women in the earlier days and how it turned into a custom

according to him, the muslim population were situated in Gulf countries and b'coz of the dust storm and other sand related issues in the deserts, people started having some thing sortta on the head similar to males, since women were more delicate this wasn't enough to settle them up, so they decided for a full dress - and with a transparent face region, so that they could see through the veil. Which was started as a protection from desert miseries turned into a custom r compulsion for the muslims, calling as "Shaitan" and what ever...

For me , this concept sounded pretty fair :p

seems Burqa belong to time before Islam!

I guess in hot weather burqa isn't good for healthy.

Let them ban it if they wish, there's a way around it for those who really want to wear the niqab. See this video:

So-called "democratic country" does not allow the freedom of choice for its citizens to practice their religion fully. That sure speaks volumes!
