Hi, I have just bought a domain and have started my first attempt at a blog, using a theme from the wordpress site. I am looking to optimise the posts in the blog and wondered how I went about it. Any tips? Darren
I've done a bit with my blog, see SEO and WordPress but that is not for the latest and greatest version (yet).
Excuse me. I installed WP recently and they have this terrific Permalink feature built right in that even generates the .htaccess file for you. I have never seen something so cool. I don't think you need to install any additional hacks, it's built right in. Eric
The only thing WP seems to lack is a meta tag description and keyword system. You can manually add it into the index.php, but when you go to an individual post, there is no meta description. There are plugins for this feature but it doesn't work to how it should for SEO purposes yet.
DC, cheers for that, now got the individual posts title in the page! What is the permalink feature? EDIT: No worries found out what permalink is! You access it via your admin panel wp-admin under options and then permalink.
TwisterMc, sorry whats referrer spam.. I'm been thick I know! I've finished playing with the blog for now, click on the recent blog link above and let me know what you think! Haven't sorted the .htaccess file kept getting server error messages when I loaded the file. Weird.
i get more than 20 comment spams a day - damn spammers - after every few days, it takes me quite a while to go through the list to remove them...
My blogs are finally becomming spam worthy as well. It is very disturbing. Normally I don't care about spammers as much, but they seem to be asking for a war. Not trying to be a biggot but there are certain countries which seem to be highly spam productive.
On 2 of my blogs, I completely disabled the comments, it's not worth the time. Comments ratio was 1 real user comment vs 1500 spam comments. Not worth.
I want to upload travel news on a daily basis to the blog, how can I do this without, copy and pasting news articles? RSS? What is RSS? lol Help!
Have you tried the email function to post entries to WP? Still copying and pasting but would be easier than having to log into your blog to post an new entry. Pretty slick.
