I have a celebrity site with good traffic and ctr but income is low... does anyone experiencing the same.
the trick with fansites is to make a network of sites. theres lots of celebs out there that are underrepresented on the web. use the same site design and roll out another site every month or so. to improve your income you can choose celebs linked to finance/real estate/business/politics.
Thats it. I personally avoid the big names and go for lesser known celebs. I think 10 sites with 200 uniques a day each is better than 1 with 2000. Maybe i'm scared of targetting the high traffic/competition names. I think now is a good time to make a site about Tony Blair because he is just about to end his leadership and you can carve out a niche folllowing his post-priminster career. free tip
You should rephrase as "does anyone experience anything different" and the answer is NO, fan sites are misirable performers with AdSense. It's not exactly a secret either.
I run a fansite and get $1+ clicks somewhat often. I had 3 clicks for 4$ a few days ago. I only have about 400 daily visitors and I get about 0-3 clicks a day. My site has a lot of original content, is updated daily and has an active forum so maybe that has something to do with the high priced clicks.
It never goes up todays stats show ~200 clicks :-S and 5$ and i dont like spamming my visitors with popup's and CPM adverts.
Most fan sites are pretty much 'Entertainment' and 'For Fun' type sites and probably the advertisers do not really earn big on their site to justify a big advertising campaign. If you venture into business related sites then the relevant ads may be placed by big corporation with a bigger pocket to dig into. Generally, Fan Sites and Game Sites would probably fall in this category, there may be some which can outperform. Sadly as a publisher and advertiser myself, I am not pretty fond of clicking on banners.
