I started a couple of very basic blogs in Wordpress and Multiply just to see how things work and admit I so far have put no real effort into them: Wordpress blog and Multiply blog These blogs have now dropped out of Google's index. Is it worth adding fresh content to them and building up backlinks or will Google always dismiss these blogs as being "spammy"? Note that I am not complaining that they have dropped out of the index - I just want to know how to focus my attention now I am getting a bit more time: should I completely scrap the accounts and start afresh with some new content now I see how things work or can I rebuild the existing accounts and get them reindexed? Any advice appreciated.
You haven't dropped out at all. The problem is you only have 3 pages indexed on your wordpress blog and the pages have fairly useless content. http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=site:http://suffolkwebdesign.wordpress.com Create more content, submit a sitemap, update the blog at the very least on a daily basis and target non competitive keywords. Pretty simple really.
Many thanks both of you. I couldn't find either blog either by typing the blog url into Google or copying and pasting hte first line of text in " first line " so I assumed it had dropped out of the index. I admit the content isn't very good so far, but wasn't sure whether - if Google has rejected the blogs - it would reconsider if I started adding better content and some links or whether I should just cut my losses and start afresh??
