hi everyone, i want to ask your own opinion about using this CMS Expression Engine V.S. Joomla, whats their Pros and Cons. thanks!
i think joomla is better coz it have a large community so you dont need worry if there is any problem
Okay.... and Large Community means no problems? I have been using Joomla a long time. And I've encountered a lot of problems. And the community doesn't alwasy have the answers. I would much rather have paid support to contact, assuming... and it's a big assumption the support was good. Because time is money and spending hours and hours searching for an answer the "might" work is not a good use of my time. I am not using expression engine for one main reason. I simply could not find a good template designer that was available. That is their biggest short coming. The price of Expression Engine is very reasonable. You need to ask yourself how much time you have to learn the CMS, and if you need a custom design or can find templates. When something breaks on Joomla its up to you to figure out how to fix it. You are also much less likely to have security issues with Expression Engine. Both are good products. And I do like Joomla. But I've really taken a liking to Wordpress and setting it up as a simple CMS. Fast and powerful. You just need to find the right templates and plug ins.
Thanks for these posts, I'm trying to figure out the same thing... leaning towards Expression Engine because of its flexibility and I really like their other product, Codeigniter.
Probably a bad place to ask because More people know Joomla than Expression engine. To me expression engine is just the more professional of the two. It powers an impressive amount of reputable sites while I can barely ever find a professional site running Joomla. To me they are for two types of people. One that needs to add alot of features with a point and click and the other Looking to build a highly customized site.
Usually, but not always. Bigger is definitely better than smaller. I think learning the search tools, including the boolean search method on google and other major engines was the best time-saver for me. I can find things much faster now, and its very powerful. Joomla for me....I like free I agree, use what suits your needs best. Wordpress is not for all jobs, just like Joomla. If all a person wants is a blog, choose Wordpress.
Can anyone point to three big sites that use Joomla? I always hear how great it is and the biggest site I have seen running it is Joomla.org. Drupal has ton loads of top sites using it.
And.. joomla.org is a perfect answer for the question. Okay, I knew there were others, but had to go get proof. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_big_sites_uses_joomla http://www.aa.com.tr Thanks ! Now I know ....
