    Hey Guys!

It's oneawesomeguy again with one of my 48 hour contests!

    Details:
The website is going to be a help section for current members of a company. See the PDF file below to see what we are shooting for. Be creative! Also, don't worry about doing little revisions and wasting your time.

    PDF file: http://2leaf.net/dev/help.pdf

    Rules:
    1. You must create the designs yourself. No templates. You must not use any images you do not have the right to use.
    2. 48 hours for entries (from this post's time stamp)
    3. 1 winner gets $100 via PayPal
    4. Winner provides PSD and fonts used
    5. Only the winner agrees to transfer me rights to that design

The 48 hour deadline will be enforced as long as there are at least five entries. One person can submit as many entries as he or she wants. For this contest I will reserve the right to select an entry before the time limit is up.

    Suggestions:
    1. If you must put a watermark put "Sample" on your image.
    2. Do not be late.
    3. Have fun!

EDIT: The PDF is meant just as a basic guideline. Feel free to use your creativity in any way you see fit! :)

Here is my submission, I can fully code it in either Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal, or HTML/CSS. Your choice, no extra charge.

I am submiting a design, by no means is it "final", but I feel it is always better than just wasting time. Sidebars can either be exact images from your PDF, or anything else you may not... Or a combination of Both.

If you want a landing page like this, and the rest of the site Wordpress or Joomla (for content management purposes) it would be easy enough to do.

Any payments over $100, would be glady accepted, though not required for the extra work ;).

@decoyjames: Thanks for your entry. I really like the design. The colors fit very nicely together. See below.

@suke: Thanks for the heads up. I have to admit that design looks surprisingly like the one on their website: http://www.artisteer.com/?p=overview :)

@everyone: This design is just for one page. Use the PDF as a guide to seeing how the whole website will function, but only one page is needed. Thanks!

Oneawesomeguy, if you like the design, I can customize the middle and the sidebars for you, it is not like starting with artisteer hurts anything. It is easier and better results are given compared to photoshop... especially going from photoshop to Html! The Html is much easier, meaning it is easier to customize after... Nobody likes coding menubars, and sidebars!

@suke: If you can do better let me know ;)

Thanks everyone for their entries so far!

@HugoDorfling: I liked your design. I liked how clean it is. It does look a lot like the PDF file which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The only thing I did not like so much was the strong blue color of the word "HELP!" and the border around the main content. I understand it is meant to match the logo which I like, but I felt as there was too much of that same color on the page. Great job though. You are probably winning the contest at this point.

@suke: I liked your design as well. To be 100% honest, it is very difficult to see with the giant "sample" overlays. The text blends in too much to the design and makes it a little bit difficult to differentiate from the background. Feel free to include text such as this, but just think about legibility. I really liked you menu and header. I felt that the white "HELP!" blended too much with the white background though. Maybe if it were a slightly different shade (or if the background was a slightly different shade) the design would flow better? I felt as your main content text was a little too big and did not like the tea color so much in the text in the footer. I loved the background color of the footer images and the little clip art images you used. I also liked the background color you choose for the main content. Very nice design!

@everyone: Try out different things. The designs I have seen look very close to the PDF file I included in the first post. As I now have a couple of posts with that general theme, try to spice things up a little bit. I will not hold that against you. :)

This is untrue. Better results are given in Artisteer if you don't know how to use photoshop or are just not a very good designer. I don't know of a single professional web designer who uses it. It's marketed as design software for people who don't know how to design.
As for the code, a competent coder will always produce better results than software.
I wouldn't be so harsh but you are offering to code the design when the software generates the HTML (or a Drupal theme, or a Wordpress theme) as standard (and even asking for more money for "the extra work"), in a design contest for $100 when the software only costs a fraction more than that.

Anyway, thanks for the invite again :) I'll be entering shortly.

    Hello guys.

The contest is now over. I know I ended it early. :) I have already selected a winner so no need for everybody to keep posting entries.

The winner is: princemac who submitted an entry via PM. I will post his entry here along with my comments on all the other designs so we can all learn.

Hello everyone. Thanks so much for you entries. I ended the contest early so I need to give a proper explanation: Usually my contess run 48 hours, but this contest as I stated in the opening post, I reserved the right to end the contest early. The reasoning for this is that this website has to be finished by tomorrow and I need as much free time as possible to code the design and get everything set up. I really appreciate all the work you guys put in towards my contests.

Also, another note: In all future contests, I will not accept entries via PM. I did this time because I did not mention anything in the OP, but it is not really fair to the others participating.

Honorable mention: design_nikki sent me a beautiful design just now. She may have won first place and is a really great designer. I appreciate it.

Now let me mention what I liked/disliked about all the designs I have not mentioned:

@katesrobyn: I really liked this design. I liked how professional it is. I liked all the little icons and I liked the three boxes at the bottom. I loved you alternating colors in the titles. It really brings everything together.

@suke: Thank you for the revision. This design came out a lot better and you can see the true beauty in the background. The only thing I did not like about this design was how you changed the "HELP!" text on the top right. I liked how it was before; it was just the colour that blended to into the background. Overall, very nice design! P.S. Those icons in the footer are just great!

@sLiMsHaDys: I loved your design! I liked the logo in its own space. I liked the menu at the top right. I love the two boxes at the bottom and the footer design! I did not like the color of the "HELP" at the top however. I felt it did not fit in. I loved your use of white space and I loved the font style and size. Great job!

@Erthy: I agree 100% with what you said in regards to Artisteer. I liked the simplicity of your design. It really looks like a help site which is what I am trying to achieve. I liked the two boxes at the top and I liked the highlighting effect in the menu. Great job!

@tajio: I liked your design, but I didn't understand the car in the top right. The dark blue in the top half of the design was a little bit too dark I though and it made my eyes go there instead of to the main page content. I really really liked your footer especially with the car in the bottom right. It is probably my favourite footer in this whole contest!

@TindiRindi: I liked your design as well. Your comments are almost the opposite of the above. I really really liked your main site content, but did not like the plainness of the footer so much. I loved all four of the little boxes around the main content. I loved the shade of blue you picked and the fading effect. I also loved the font styling. The menu could have used a little touch-up to make it look different from the other boxes, but the header was very nice-looking. Great job!

@decoyjames: I can't tell if you are being sarcastic... but I didn't hear back from you.

    The winner is princemac
    His design: http://2leaf.net/dev/design-4.png
Why I choose his design: I felt as though he captured the essence of what the website is trying to achieve. He knew what the product was. I love the van icon with the camera on top. I loved how the street images really look like it was taken by the van. Overall the design is very professional and fit in with what I wanted.

Thank you everybody for your entries!
