My system ( CPU 2.40 GHz & 512 MB of RAM ) hangs as I open more than 50 tabs in Mozilla Firefox. I want to open approx 500 tabs at a time in Firefox browser, should, I increase its memory or CPU or both or any other idea to improve the PC performance?

Only 512 MB ram? This will not help!!!!!

I would say you should not even attempt to run Windows XP etc on less than 2GB of Ram.

I use 3 GB of Ram.

Plugins/Addons are the main cause of slowing Firefox.

Deactivate all plugins, even if you are not using them.

If you are using more than 2 or 3 plugins you will be slowed down a lot.

Though 500 tabs is crazy! Why so many?

Even with my Quad core + 3GB Ram it would struggle to go past 1-200 tabs.

When my laptop was working, I had about 20-30 open on a good day and Firefox would hang.

edit: That was with 512 megs of memory.
