I need help with a logo design. We are opening the doors to our tanning salon next week (with the hard earned $$ I make in affiliate marketing) and I need a logo designed. The logo will not only go on my companies website but it will also be used in all print advertising as well as for the manufacturing of a sign outside our storefront. All work must be original and fit well with a tanning salon. Think summer, vacation, BOLD and stands out from competition. If you win the contest then I will require the original PSD file and it must be compatible for me to have it blown up in a MASSIVE sized for printing of outdoor signs. I will stop the contest once we find the logo that fits. Good luck!
Just to help you out here... the format you need is VECTOR which means it wont lose its quality as its enlarged. Generally (but not always) these are created using AI (or Adobe Illustrator) or CDR (CorelDraw) software.
It's also possible to have a vector psd, if all the elements are either drawn with the pen tool, or text. But like Tightwad said, what is the name?
Sorry to disagree with you, but you cannot have a Raster Graphic (PSD) Vector. You can export the PSD to Vector but it isn't a Vector graphic and here is why: If the design was created within Illustrator (or any other vector based design software), it can be scaled up and down without any quality loss. This is because the elements aren't pixel-based like regular images (PSD) are. Rather they are based on mathematical equations and formulas, so a straight line joining point A to point B will always be perfectly straight, no matter how close or far you view it from. This is why I design with Illustrator and export to PSD for final delivery.
As for me, all my designs would be in 300dpi PSD or even up to 600dpi at times depending on the usage of the logo. That being said, I do agree that vector would be the best format ever for designs and I guess that I have to start using Illustrator more now on. @CH - As everyone had asked, the name of the salon please?
Valid is absolutely right. It's possible to have PSD in vector. I always do two versions, vector PSD - scalable without any quality loss with gradients etc., and AI/EPS versions.
No, the pen tool in photoshop - have you used it? It is exactly the same as its illustrator counterpart. You are wrong.
OK. Vector it is. I cannot figure out why i did not say the name of the salon, must have slipped my mind... lol... The name of the salon will be Hot Bod . Looking forward to the design
These 2 both look great, the first one looks a little too old fashioned for the salon we are opening. The second is cool but not sure about the cartoon lady
