Light text on light background?

    Just wanted to know people's opinion of light text on a light background to hide the links. I noticed this site while checking out other sites in the network:

    Acceptable to Google - I have reported to G before on this subject showing similar sites and received an acknowledgement and the site stayed as it was - so I use calm colours where acceptable also [not as mild as those tho!] ;)

    Hey, I like that. How do I change my PHP code to change the color? I know nothing about PHP. I learned Pascal in college. :D

    <?php
    ini_set ("include_path", ini_get ("include_path") . ':../:../../:../../../:../../../../');
    include ('ad_network.php');
    echo $ad_network[0];
    ?>

    It's not PhP you need.
    You need CSS - much easier ;)

    Look at this. :)

    I would be careful here. those links are so hard to see that they could be deemed as "hidden" - clearly against the rules at G.

    It would appear that you guys consider these links "too light"!

    I don't see how you reach this conclusion. The links are clearly visible but toned down so as not to draw the eye of visitors to whom this content is not important.

    I have never had any problems with using toned down colours so that important content (from a visitor perspective) is highlighted and non-important content (from the same perspective) is not.

    I don't think that I would totally agree with that - I really am saying that the closer you get to being the same colour as the background the closer you get to the "risk" area which is only determined by Google and as such it would be irresponsible of me not to plead caution - only the webmaster can determine how far he should go - as I said before:

    I'm not sure how serious google takes hidden links - I found a bunch of sites interlinked using hidden links (using same color as the background or making them extra xxxxxsmall) and I sent a report to google. After a few months what did they do? -- Nothing

    you dont want to do that. google can detect these things. when you make links hard to see it will raise alarms.

    That could work. Some people use white font color on a white background then highlight. Very effective.

    I just created a calendar Trumba was recommended by my hosting site and put it on the site with no problem. However, when I click on an event, I dont get to see the "When" and "where" details. My site background is black, and this font is also in black.

    Can I do anything about this i.e. change the text to white, or will I just have to forego the calendar until such time as the website is completely re-done?

    Thanks

    Hey guys, This strategy is called Black Hat SEO which is not considerable by search engine robot.

    This is an easy way to get backlinks in an unethical manner But now search engine spider easily search this type of strategy and your website can be banned for a long period.
