I read this article on Yahoo buzz about the conficker c virus. Apparently this virus has already been distributed but has not gone active. The word on the street is that on April 1st 2009 (Fools Day) the trojan will be activated. ConfickerInfo.com mentions that Microsoft is aware of this virus and was first detected in November 2008. The only thing that worries me is that since the target date is Aprils Fools day that most peeps will take it as a hoax. It is reported that over 20 million windows based pc's are currently infected.
I just posted a topic about this here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1284379 I'm kind of worried, but I have faith that I will not get it.
ESET Smart Security ( Interactive mode ) warns you about every single incoming/outgoing connection and asks you to enter a password ! So .. why you should be scared of something ?
Sounds like another failure to me. Always good to keep key files backed up in case something does hit.
I am no worried now then i was in 2000 when everyone thought the world computers would come crashing down...anyone willing to write such foolishness deserves to spend their remaining days in prision. I guess that is a better choice for them in prision then to put their talents to real work....anyone that writes a virus of destruction is no better then the germ in my toliet... (a toliet bug) and anything that thinks they are that good will end up in prision or working for the FBI.
Microsoft is saying that all you need to do is make sure your version of windows is up to date with the current critical and security updates. Combined with a leading anti-virus should be enough. Another concern is how this virus is spread. This is an excerpt from http://confickerinfo.com. and... In my opinion the major concern is with large networks like Hospitals and Government intranet networks. Most of these types of networks are slow in upgrading and updating, but they house tons of private data.
Bring it On! I never use Antivirus. According to me, Antivirus is what that brings me viruses. And... I think you will understand if you read the thread title like this: " April Fools day - Hoax or Real? "
Frankly speaking chances of it bieng real is lesss coz if micosoft is aware they must have already found a way to remove it..and all anti virus softwares aswell.. well thats thier job after all For any one to test it... switch of from the net and change ur date to april 1st and see if its real or no
