Hello all members I am excited about this-I just checked the back links of my blog and I was pleasantly surprised to find a back link from DP(third one in the picture)....although I haven't put any links to it anywhere... The link is of this page http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=10873111 I am wondering where have they come from?I did put the link to my blog in my profile here..BUT it is a no follow here- http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=267317 My question is-Where and How has Google put a link back in such a case? Look forward to any explanations from more knowledgeable people here... Regards n thanks to all
Hi mrmoney Thanks for the answer. However my question essentially is- has google linked a "no follow" link??
hi stevan .. google index digital point very frequently.... can u give me that link that google is indexing for your site?
Once you have a link in any of the public places it is obvious that Google spider picks it and start showing it in your back links. This is good not to worry about it. Just keep the good work going on...
Hi jasoncreja its the third one in the picture...backlink is of this page http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=10873111 lauramarsh and freebiefinder really i found it pretty interesting as well.. alexwoods09 i guess its so...the link in question is a no follow.Thats my only concern! I had only put a link in the profile and not in the signature. And in the profile the link to "Our home page" is a no follow one...so just pleasantly surprised how it is linked.... Thanks guys
Thank you ravi! I just discovered this thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=11006853#post11006853 They are discussing something similar.
there are no particular rule for no follow.. google has specially preference for lots of sites.. why wiki is always on top ? only because of content? and all.. I have seen many time that wikipedia has very less information about topic though it is at first position instead of another... so..I still believe google has some speciall attention towards DP and why you are getting backlink it may be because that that thread may have particular keyword that is in your domain name or in title or in meta.
From the thread I mentioned above I understand that Google may show a no follow link in the back link although it doesn't count for the PR.Thanks everyone for the replies...
nofollow does not mean google does not index the page (for this you have noindex tag), it just means you dont get ranking points for this link - so for SEO purpose, this is not a backlink
