I never knew this happened! I've always bought a domain I've searched for quickly. I use updaddy, not sure if they do it.
I know this isn't entirely helpful, but there's a site I use that allows you to put partial names in. For example if you really wanted: heythishereisagreatdomain.com your search could be heythishere and it will list all the sites that have heythishere within the domain name. They are not a registrar but allow you to do lookups. Changed computers and haven't transferred bookmarks yet. If no one posts it, I'll look tomorrow for you.
You can't accuse GoDaddy without a solid proof. On my case, i am very sure that NameCheap records because it happened more than 3 times and everytime the domain is sniped by the same company.
I have used godadyy for over 4k domains , some I have seen that I did not buy that day , not available the next day , but most are, You also have to think about how many people a day buy domains, maybe someone else just had the same idea?
Its impossible someone else had the same idea because the first time it happends was few months ago when i found funnyegg.com available then the next day got taken by Chesterton Holdings. Few months later found putvideos.com available, the next day got taken by same company. Then just recently i search for videoside.com and videobump.com and found available. Also taken by them the next day. You call that coincidence?
I use namecheap all the time and I have yet to have any problem. Even when I search out names and come back later to register them.
Exactly! Which is why i need to know if this is legal and how can NameCheap do that to us as a customer? Its not easy for us to find a domain which is available and to make things worst this kind of thing happend. I have the same discussion at namepros here: http://www.namepros.com/legal-issues-and-disputes/213144-a-company-steal-my-domains.html and i was surprised when the staff over there told me that this problem is very common: http://www.icannwiki.org/Domain_tasting http://www.namepros.com/industry-ne...april-32-a.html
I've not come across this problem with NameCheap yet, but I usually brainstorm the domain idea first anyway, so by the time I get to NameCheap, I'm practically ready to buy.
How can it be a privacy issue when they can't trace it to your name... That would make the DP visitor map, and all stats packages a privacy breach as well.
yea, they do record-i had some sniped the same day so i stop and started checking out domain some where safe...
There is only one guys whose saw that... www.domainsbot.com ... Nobody comment abt that... is safe or ou guys never heard abt them???
Erm... can't you just WHOIS.NET the domain, if it's not taken, wait the day then quickly go to a registrar and take it when you want it. And if WHOIS record your ideas... you're stuffed whoever you use.
I had this problem with registerfly. I was registering around 120 domains when i checked them 95 were avaliable, but when trying to register i got server timed out error. Next day i see only 67 out of the 95 domains avaliable. So something is surely fishy in there
It also Happends with me i want to register domain www.artz.com and when i check then it was available but after just 10 Minutes it was registred by any body
