Well, here we are again! There was this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1005649 and if you want, I can share some insights. I started this bum marketing experiment in September with a freshly registered domain name and self-hosted WordPress. It is a gadgets niche and basically all the play goes around one three-word keyphrase and one two-word keyphrase. Of course, the two-word keyphrase is more popular and more desirable I've been writing a fresh post once every two or three days, done some article marketing, signatures from two relevant do-follow forums and a handful (very few actually) of blog comments. That's all. No stupid free directories, no schemes, no reciprocal links. So, was it all worth it? Yes and no. Yes, because I learnt awful lot about SEO, that's an asset that will remain with me!!! No, because the site failed to monetize My search engine positions are as follows: Three-word phrase: Yahoo: #2 MSN: #1 (Yeah, yeah) Google: #23 Two-word phrase: Yahoo: #89 MSN: #1 (Yeah, yeah) Google: within #100 As you see, it is hard to persuade Google that I am good, yet I get good traffic from MSN and some from Yahoo. I am also picking up some long-tail keyword traffic from Google, so basically 60% of my traffic still comes from Google, despite of it being only #23 for a straight phrase. I was very sceptic about all this bum marketing stuff. I still am, because I'm not earning any f****n' money. At least I proved to myself that it is doable and learned new tricks and cheats. No chance I will reveal the keywords but I am open to other questions! Can other guys please share their bum marketing experience? Thank you.
