So it looks like Obama's grandma died: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/03/obama.grandma/ One has to wonder, not too sound morbid, but the timing here could not be more perfect. Anyone think Obama will get a sympathy vote boost from the undecideds?
I doubt it. Personally, I don't believe there are any undecideds left. Only people who don't want to say who they're voting for. I wonder which could be considered worse. Her passing before she got to see the culmination of all that she put into Obama. Or her living just long enough to see him somehow lose, then dying soon after.
You made a topic for something being discussed here? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=941939&page=35 You even posted in the thread.
Timing does seem weird. I'm always skeptical of stuff that seems too convenient when it comes to presidential politics.
Oh, God. Here it comes, I'm fairly certain. Yes, it might give him a sympathy boost. He certainly has my sympathy, as I know how much she meant to him. Sounds like a strong, great lady. My condolences to Obama. And no (can't believe I feel it's necessary), I don't think the ticket conspired to kill his grandma to time it for maximum vote effect.
You could contribute something useful to the discussion in this thread instead of hijacking it. Its a serious question, and has little if nothing to do with something so vague as "the obama thread". I'm genuinely curious as to whether or not this will garner more support, sympathy, empathy, or could backfire given his response to the sad news. Lets say he is too broken up or backs out of last minute public appearances and or appears, weak, frail as he mourns. What about the fact that he continually called his Grandmother racist in one breath, then praised her in the next? Are attacks on the subject something that would be looked at negatively? Again, care to actually contribute something useful rather than begging for a thread merge where one is not needed?
Is anyone not just absolutely disgusted by yet another conspiracy theory intimating foul play by the man, on the man's grandmother, in order to gain a boost in an election he is poised to win? By intimating his lack of love for his grandmother - a mere few hours after her death? Astounding, and not surprised.
Yeah I wasn't going to go there but I was pretty surprised to see any talk about it's effect on the election. I thought this was gonna be a thread about how much this sucked for him personally.
+ Pretty much the only reason I question the making of this thread. Homebiz wouldnt even make about some "political gain" for Obama
Actually the thread was meant to evoke a serious discussion devoid of motive or an agenda. Unfortunately no one has been able to add to the diatribe without suggesting an ulterior motive. Sure, it is a dad event to lose a loved one. Especially someone so close, but I did not start this thread to offer up condolences or start a discussion about how much we all miss our own grandmother. If I wanted to do that, I would have done that in the Obama thread. Now, I have posed some serious questions objectively and have yet to see anyone come up with a response that is anything but unrelated to the subject.
But of course. As always, not an untoward thought in the world. "Devoid of motive or agenda." One "just has to wonder....timing's great...did he freaking off his grandma for votes?" Agreed, George - this one takes the cake, and there have been plenty of cakes already.
Sorry, I noticed that shortly after posting. Also noticed the classic NPT drive by quote from someone else who quoted him. Kinda explains why the thread went to hell. In any event, I posed the original question because while unfortunate, the reality is it could play to his advantage. Though I agree with your assertion that everyone's mind is likely already made up and believe you have a good point with regard to her untimely passing. I mean if he wins, she misses it. If he loses, she misses it. Either way, the events leading up to, where in her mind until the end.
I did, I just do not question the timing. I don't see any motive here. That would be ridiculous to suggest. She has been sick for some time. This was purely coincendental. I'm merely curious as to whether it affects the mind of a voter, and what impact it has on both the candidate was well as the perception of existing voters based on what they might feel the news and Obama's reaction might weigh. Finally figured out who the "retart" repper is. BTW, I was under the impression that harassing or attacking another member via REP was equally as bannable an offense as doing it in a thread. The ironic thing here, aside from this person inability to spell is that I never said it was "CONVENIENT".
