Wasn't Obama campaigning on "uniting the country"?

Then why do we have so many rude supporters in this forum, either making snide remarks or claiming non-supporters are racists?

It seems to me, as an independent in this race, that the Obama supporters are getting frustrated by the real issues that are against them, and bringing up non-issues with a vengeance.

Why the need to have a chip on your shoulder?

Unity? Maybe within your own party. Sorry, not feeling it.

Nate, I know for me, a lot of it has to do with the fact of what I have seen, since the inception of the man's candidacy. I can honestly say I have never seen so much ass-hat bullshit thrown at a candidate, the most insane kinds of smears, in my entire life. I can also say the engine of such crap was begun by Nixon's race-baiting machine, all the way through to today - shot through the roof with Bush's team, and Karl Rove's stewardship of campaign tactics.

I flatly, absolutely do not think all those who do not support Obama are racists. I also think it would be disingenuous to deny crap like this:

Is baldly racist. On this forum alone, with variants, it was played several times, that the only way for a white man to be voting for Obama was because of "white guilt." Multiply that by a good amount (the random sampling of certain member's smears on the man is indicative of a certain mindset elsewhere, too), and you might see why some are tetchy.

I'll just be glad once the election is over. I'm tired of seeing all the ads and shows I like being interrupted. :)

Politics brings out the worst in people. I don't think it matters who their candidate is. Although I do think smear and negative tactics has become more acceptable amongst republicans.

Which "non issues" are we bringing up?

His citizenship? "Relationships" with terrorists? All the big "non-issue" threads seem to be attack threads on Obama. But feel free to correct me there I could have missed something.

I can't speak for the rest of the Obama supporters but I don't feel frustrated at all :D

In fact I CAN'T WAIT for 2012 when Sarah Palin has to go up against Mitt Romney and other Republicans that actually know what they're talking about when fighting for the Republican nomination ;)

The thing is Obama has had to deal with a just constant hailstorm of nonsensical attacks so of course his supporters are feisty in response to that. But Obama himself hasn't been. He's continued his unity rhetoric throughout. A great example was Obama's 30 minute TV program Wednesday night. Do you know how many times he mentioned McCain? ZERO.

Obama's campaign has been all about the future of this country and the issues. Even the negative ads he has ran have been issue based. McCain's campaign has been all about personal attacks & guilt by association smears. It's night & day. And I think most of America sees it just like that.

This is an election between hope & fear. We've had 8 years of fear. The choice on November 4th is obvious.

VoteForChange.com to find your polling location. Pull the lever for Barack Obama.
