Russia Warns: Poland could face attack over its missile defense deal with the US.

Iran and Russia are just part of it. Not one by itself is the big picture but several things put together.
Either way Poland wanting to defend themselves should not be a problem. Why does Russia care so much? They say its because it would upset their power balance. So it seems to me as if Russia wants to have control and power over the region

Poland, a nation with pretty much no history of violence but a long history of being invaded and attacked. Poland wanting to defend themselves in a region of growing tension and violence.

Anti-ballistic missiles are 100% defensive.

Russia needs to stop the cold war mentality. They want to be admitted to the G-7 and have a partnership with the west, but at the same time Russia is becoming the biggest threat to Western secuirity.

 

i see no problem with russia installing "anti ballistic" missiles in cuba and mexico...anti balistic missiles are 100% defensive and i trust the US gov. 100% when its says its not for attack so i dont see the slightest problem with cuba being able to "defend" itself as well...

The Russians don't have an anti-ballastic missile defense system. At best, they could use an S-300 or and S-400 anti-aircraft missile system against cruise missiles. But there is nothing to defend them against ICBMs. Their only defense is a threat to attack in response.

But if the US builds a missile defense shield in Poland, then whats the use of Russian threats? Then, Russia would be at a disadvantage, coz Americans can attack them with nukes, and they won't be able to respond. Thats why the Russians are opposing any US moves in that direction...

 

Russia has thousands of nuclear missles as well as nuclear submarines and bombers. Ten interceptor missles bases in Ploand will hardly make a difference.

 

Thats what I said earlier as well. The only difference is that with help from US, Poland made themselves as one of possible targets, thats all what have changed.

US provoking Russia on a cold war. Everything was fine and there was an agreement between NATO & Russia, where Russia had to move all its heavy stuff weaponry from its european part to Siberia. And we did that, every year NATO observers were checking that and visiting Russia.

Now, planting this system in Poland just puts our relations back to a cold war stage. Russia will just simply bring the heavy stuff back to the european borders and block NATO-Russia relations (its all going to that), thats all.

 

Poland wants better security and we agre to help them. It is hardly a case of us trying to provoke a cold war. The state controlled media must be feeding you some heavy crap for you to get on here with these twisted ideas.

With Putin Russia has become a much stronger country in all fields and most important people live better, if you dont like a strong Russia, tough luck then. You are not the one who is going to live here.

Putin had nothinig to do with it. Putin has been stripping away freedoms from the people. Russia was a much weaker nation until just recently in the last few years when energy prices began to soar. It is energy that fuels Russia and without it then most your nation. Yet up to 30% of your nation is still in poverty and unemployment being around 5th highest in the G8 last year.

'This is a day of mourning for us,' said Mariusz Chmiel, mayor of the small northern Polish community of Redzikowo.

'The shield is meant to defend the United States, not us. On the contrary, all it will do is put us in danger,' Chmiel told AFP by phone, after Polish and U.S. negotiators reached a preliminary accord in Warsaw.
