I'm not entirely sure what Gtech, or anyone, feels. I go on what people write here and it is this which I try to deal with. Everything else, to me, gets into the realm of seer, which I am wholly unqualified for.
There are lots to quote from that article. My assertion is a very simple one though. In the end, McCarthy was right that communists had infiltrated the highest levels of our government. I don't question whether the spies were a threat, I know they were. It was a massive spy ring and not limited to those in high level positions above. I assert that one need not ignore history or the truth of a matter, simply because they disagree with it. I don't know many people that would say that what McCarthy did was a great or right thing to do, including myself. He did ruin the lives of many. But in the end, none-the-less, he was right that soviet spies had infiltrated our country at the highest levels. It wasn't until the release of the Venona Project files in 1995 that we learned just how extensive the spy network was. Fortunately today, we have much better technology to detect such things. It seems like almost every year, new spies (most recently from China) are caught.
