I had a PR of 3 yesterday and when I logged in today it shows as PR 0. I upgraded the google analytics plugin and the xml-sitemap plugin for wordpress , could this be the reason ? Pls help

The plugins don't have anything to do with it. What's the domain name?

If you are positive you were PR3 before, then yep you have definitely been hit with a -3 PR reduction.

With a quick look, the main thing that stands out is your link:

    text-link-ads.com/starter_kit.php?ref=110631

That's possibly what done it, you should of at least linked to yourpage.php and redirected that page to TLA as well as blocked it with Robots.txt and applied a Nofollow.

I don't know everything and some days I don't know much but I think that there may be a PageRank update happening. Some of the guys seem to think that it's going to happen around the 30th. My guesstimation puts it between the 12th and then. Hang on. Don't panic and start changing stuff all over your home page. It may hurt your position instead of helping it. If PR is updating everything should return to something resembling stability after it is over.

You mean theres a PR going on and this is a temporary change ? I hope so too. When I posted this thread it showed similar threads and in it most have said not to worry about PR , but isnt that count in search results and also when getting paid for reviews ?

    Thanks

I highly doubt it's a Pagerank update, we haven't had a deep crawl yet. My old stable site that doesn't get new pages added gets indexed like clockwork, during a normal month it gets approx 10MB of Googlebot activity and during a deep crawl 50MB.

Currently it's sitting on 7MB for the month, which is completely normal. So i don't predict a PR update for at least 3-4 weeks, because after the deep crawl it's generally 2 weeks for the export to hit the toolbar.

Look like google's algorithm changed or became more dynamic.

I've been offline for a few years and just came back last year. It's my understanding that Google is now doing a "continuous" update of the index and periodic pagerank (toolbar related) updates but updates pagerank behind the toolbar scenes on a continuous basis. I've been watching a large site of mine (836 pages) for around a year trying to figure out the new process. I mistakenly assumed that deepbot and freshbot were now "continuous" and that toolbar pagerank updates were the only periodic updates running. Can you bring me up to speed on this? Thanks.

In order to get a somewhat accurate pagerank calculation, all links to a URL must be taken in to consideration to get a complete data set.

Google still does deep crawling to discover all these links to include in the "snapshot", and this typically occurs for 2-3 weeks then 1-2 weeks after that the results are exported to the toolbar if the engineers are happy with the calculations.

Here a picture speaks a thousand words, the last PR update was January..

    Activity from Webmaster Tools:

Crawl Activity from Jan in cPanel 51MB:

Crawl Activity from a normal full month, March 13MB:

This is from a site that doesn't get new content added, or receive many new backlinks that would alter the crawling it's just an aged and stable site. I have better tools to show the crawling patterns, but i purposely used Google WT and cPanel because more people can access these.
