I was never a "revolution" convert, Jackul, though I certainly respect people who live their stated creed. I do not abide bullshit very well, I'm afraid.

The reason insurance is expensive is because health care is expensive. Health care is expensive because, for many years, the U.S. government has engaged in overregulation and anticompetitive legislating in the healthcare industry (i.e., the current moral crusade against specialty hospitals). If we had a free-market health care system, technology would reduce prices.

Let's take it to the limit - insurance comes way down, say, $20 per month in premiums (I cannot envision a scenario where this will ever be, and if it would, how massive deductibles, to the tune of 10's of $10,000's, would obtain).

Even if this obtains, though - how would a guy on $850 per month total net handle even this?

On another angle, unless I'm misunderstanding your use of the word, technology has driven pharmaceuticals - yet we have what we have in costs to final users. Why?

My mistake then, I had the impression you supported one Ron Paul.

I retract my previous statement and all meanings it had.

Don't forget subsidy. Government paid health care has driven private costs up, because the private sector has to compete with the public sector for resources, and the public sector has unlimited purchasing power.

No worries, Jackuul. I respect many Ron Paul people, and have gained from the look at his candidacy. But I am not a Libertarian. Here, in a nutshell:

Why, Guerilla - are you challenging me to a fight after school? Does Mrs. Kefster know about this?:D

Hahahha - uh, yeah, Guerilla. If you want a pissing match over who would beat who's ass, I don't play games based on air. I take violence very seriously, and as a guy who came from it, survived it, teaches it, and has used it as necessary in the defense of others, I'm not a talker. I'd recommend you go back to whatever games you were playing, as this is one that isn't subject to a web sandbox.

Nice try comparing my impression that you are a guy living under the weal of his parents to my being psychotic requiring family intervention. But thanks for confirming the impression.:D

No, technology has created new efficiencies in LASIK, for example, that allow it to cost less. It's profit-oriented research that has driven pharmaceutical advancement.

Here is an interesting article on insurance prices and some of the factors (govn't negligence to allow competition) that have caused it to balloon in some areas of the country: http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=6460

Of course, that is not the only factor. Here are few concrete steps (from ron paul's site) that we can take to reduce insurance costs:

I have some thoughts about technology and healthcare costs - patents, market structure; overcapacity of "stuff" in hospitals, etc. - but I am weak here. Thanks for the info - I will look forward to reading it.

Just send the address. You wanna call me a web ranger, and brag about what a tough guy you are offline, then let's find out. Either that, or shut up. Because you're no tough guy. Dangerous? Probably, I've already covered that.

I live alone. Have for 14 years.

But I've got one parent that recently had a near fatal accident, and don't need you using them as bait on this forum for your cheap harassment stunts.

I've asked a mod to lock this thread. I'm going to end up getting banned if I keep taking the bait from a poster whose sole purpose is to make other people feel bad through harassment, and unlike the fella who's been baiting for months, I still do business on this forum and need my account.

Kaethy, I base it on this:

    And as I wrote,

In other words, if your issue is that corporations (and, necessarily, LLC's, GP's, PC's, etc.) have capital available to them to buy "time and space," and "average" persons do not, then it doesn't stop with corporations. The very wealthy can do the same thing. Your logic demands you censor both.
