You’re probably right; it wasn't the best choice of words. Anyway, sure they can legally do it but, on the other hand, I wouldn’t say it is reasonable changing rules in a way clearly negative for publishers (no time limit opposed to 90 days limit) without saying a single word about it. Anyway, as you said, I’m glad they listened to all the people who wrote them complaining. And this is something very important, of course.

Answering to Toivo Lainevool, the best I can give you is my word assuring I got the mail message mentioned. Whether this is enough for you to believe me is up to you. Hopefully Google will change the referrals page soon.

P.S. If it is OK to post non-English messages here I can copy/paste the message from AdSense Team (well, you can say I wrote it myself but… ) if needed. No problem, I guess that’s the price to pay for having just a few dozens of posts.

It's not that I don't believe you, it just could be that some customer service representative got things wrong. I find it strange that Google has been so quiet on this whole issue. It's this kind of lack of communication that causes mistrust and starts the rumors flying. Is AdSenseAdvisor still here?

Could you please tell us how long ago that user clicked on your referral button? (I mean, how long ago did you take the button off your site?)

It was probably in mid-November that I got the click, and I got the referral cash around mid-January

Hardly anybody on this or other forums has reported that the referral program has generated much money for them. I'm not going to provide premium online real estate to Google's referral program.

Well, apparently I trusted too much on the words of this AdSense Team member (he had written extremely helpful answers to previous messages I sent him) and spoke too soon here. Nothing happened since I started this thread so I better assume Google won’t change the 90 days limit. Sincere apologize to fellow DP members.

Told you guys I would come back and let you know when this program launched.
It's TextLinkAds, I'm sure you guys all know them. :)
I think they even advertise here sometimes.

You can $25 for either text link buyers or approved publishers of Text Link Ads - right away - REGARDLESS of how successful the publishers are. Nice long cookies too. Hear is the 5 Star review with all the info.

I just wanted to confirm that based on publisher feedback, we've updated the time limit for an AdSense referral to earn $100 from 90 days to 180 days. If you've already been using referrals, the 180 days will be applied retroactively.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the confirmation. Right now I can see ”180 days” mentioned in the referral page of my AdSense account.

Google says that after feedback (read screaming) from users they agree that the 90 day time window to allow your referred publishers to earn $100 is too short. They have moved it out to 180 days and made it retroactive.

Read all about it here. That's the official AdSense blog.

EDIT: Well, I feel like an idiot. While that blog posting just came out today, some folks were told via e-mail (if it was me, I missed it) that this change was coming.

Covered already in this DP thread. Sorry folks - I looked before I started!

180 days makes more sense to me. It took me around 6 months to get my first cheque too when I initiallt started. I only had one website and so, I think 180 days makes more sense than 90 days. Go Adsense!
