It's the time of the month! I have been carefully tracking Back Links and keyword positions for many months and the last week of every month shows a lot of movement - like Google rearrange all there results during this period.

Keep an eye on things daily and you will probably see the same trends - annoying but nothing us mere mortals can do about it other than keep obeying all the unwritten laws.

I do keep an eye on things daily but havnt seen anything like this for a while, usually the backlinks go up and down 10 - 15 links but never slashed in half, seems like something like the Google Dance of old but dont quote me on that.

Something is obviously going on but I am going to figure it out before I say anything else...

There is a massive PR and backlink update going on. The results you are seeing a rolled back months.

Wait a couple of days/weeks and the actual new results will show.

I had a site showing 771 links for 3 months now. A few days ago it dropped to 182 on all datacenters. Today its up to 1800 which is in line with the value I was hoping for.

Cant be a rollback one of the sites hasnt been up that long. Plus a few months ago a couple of the sites had a lot more than they do at the moment, if this is a rollback its a rollback of about 4 years based on the number of links on a few sites.

    I might be wrong but...

yeah everything seems to be up in the air, best bet is to get on with your projects and let things sort themselves out. I've also got site's backlinks, indexed pages and pr bouncing all over the damned place, annoying as hell but heh, what you gonna do :p

Nothing makes no difference as you said until the smoke clears, you never know we might end up with more backlinks...

Google should bring its old dance back, it made SEO exciting :)

    So,

One of my domains, coredownload.com, has a lot of links, all over the place... and also is in the Coop network, with a respectable weight. After this PR it get a rank of PR4 (it also had PR4 before the update).

Some time ago, I created a forum on the same domain, which is forums.coredownload.com This is the first time it gets PR and just got PR5

So, the homepage, which has LOTS of links, has PR4. The forums, which is linked only by THIS signature (don't have it on other forums) got PR5

Strange, huh? What was Google thinking when "he" did this ? :D

(if this should not be in this thread, please someone move it. thanks).

I have just checked my back links and they have been cut in two also, its a shame because I didn't have many in the first place.

I've seen no PR change on my main pages apart from one new site PR0-PR4, but loads and loads of internal pages have now much higher PR.

Not really bothered about PR updates, PR is irrelevant, I could have a PR 8 and no listings, I would rather have PR 0 and loads of listings.

Things still appear to be jumping around, very wierd...

I do not see the backlinks changing, being halved. However, this did happen to me during jagger...

Many reported taking a rankings hit during jagger. However, this did NOT happen to me during jagger...

I am taking a rankings hit over BigDaddy.

Let that soak in a minute, then read these posts, and the posts linked from them:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=655672&postcount=553
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=656470&postcount=583

I think that we are seeing something very jagger-like here.

Perhaps Google realized when going through jagger that there was a need for a 'major infrastructure change' (as Matt Cutts put it), stopped the jagger update, launched BigDaddy, continued jagger, and we are now seeing the effects of jagger across the board.

Possible conclusion: Those who did not see all the effects from jagger, are now seeing them?
