So, do these require constant work to keep them profitable? It seems like you can earn some money (very little, but at least enough to profit) with very little work. Of course, there is the initial promotion work involved, but, after that, how much effort is put into these proxies?
Traffic increase, but no impression or click increase... (clicks is still 0..) And that on 6 proxies. I might sell a few so i can concentrate on less sites.
Sohan, you got the wrong idea - running a CGI proxy with any amount of traffic will kill 256mb limited VPS. CGI proxies are an entirely different ball game to the usual phproxy or zelune etc. Basically, if someone says they run cgi proxy on a 256mb VPS and gets reasonable traffic, they're lying.
It does take constant promotion but its not hard to make a profit. just a few things get a good host, buy .coms, use multiple ad networks and make your proxies sticky.
Hello guys, I run a small network of proxies. i have a lot of impressions but few clicks something like 35000 imps only 23 clicks. can someone take a look at the proxies? and give me some optimization tips? www.untraced.net around 800-1200 uv/day www.fluweb.net aroud 100-200 uv/day www.hi5-proxy.info around 500-700 uv/day thanks for looking
Remember, you get what you pay for, especially with hosting. Lots of server farms out there, most of which are not suitable for a proxy site. Especially one with any volume of traffic. You'll get the notorious email from hosting admin about how your utilizing too much of the servers resources and then get the boot in the can. Research who/where you end up.
a CGI-proxy, A (1) high traffic one can easily "choke" the server with low ram and insufficient resources. It is very much impossible to run a cgi proxy on a vps, it will interfere with networks of other accounts. It can sometimes even be a problem with small dedicated servers.
to limit or reduce extreme resource usages, if not that familiar with server optimizations/tweaking, you can try editing start, max, min servers child requests, max req in httpd.conf. (provided you own server with root access) that will NOT reduce incredibly but it will reduce a bit.
Instead of running a network of proxies getting only a few visits a day I was going to make a good one, work on SEO, myspace advertising ect... I was going to try to rank well for the term "unblock myspace" on Google, do you guys think it's worth it?
I believe its worth it. But make sure you do not have proxy in the domain or any name that will convey your site as a proxy. That way you have decreased the chances of getting banned. You may have to work very well on SEO and your keywords/descriptions though. Also you could have the "browse/proxified" pages to an ip. That way if 1 ip blocked, you can just add new one.
To expand on this, a generic template for phproxies... Of course, further tweaking can always be done. And in all honesty guys, if you can't afford a dedicated server (whether through me or some other dedicated server host, I don't care), then do not bother trying CGI proxy. It's not for you. thewird
i would like to start a proxy, but unsure about how to install the script and get it running correctly..if someone would give me a hand installing,a link back or a couple of bucks is yours..PM me please...My host said proxies are ok,but would like the best script that uses the least resources,of course..thnxs
With all PHP based proxies just upload it to your server and it will work. For CGI, upload the file and CHMOD it to 755. thewird
