Hi all! Happy 2008! I'm in a confused state to select my career path. I just finished my Engineering in Computer Science. My income now is only through DP. I create websites and flip them at DP. I’m making around $300 a month here! This is higher than the average salary of any fresher at software companies in India. I started a forum by Dec 4 at www.onlinemoneyguild.com and it is becoming popular now (Popular URL at stumbleupon day before yesterday ). I have an idea to start niche social networks. I don’t have a strong financial background. So, I’ve to give at least $250 a month to my family. Is it good to pursue what I’m doing or I’ve to go for a day job (If I go for a day job, it is hard to continue making money online. ) Also I’m interested in being at home and making money online but is I do so, I’ll not get any exposure to the real world business! I want to be an entrepreneur. When I have decent savings with the income from my websites, I will start a hotel in my home town. Am I dreaming correctly? Suggest me some ideas to decide my career path! Thanks in advance!
Expand your business and diversify your income. Making $1,000 a month is not hard if you put a decent amount of work into it. Start a few content rich sites, learn affiliate marketing, develop them and drive traffic - flipping websites will make you decent amounts of money short term, but if you want to hit big time, you need consistent earnings.
I would definitly go to try to expand your personal empire. As I understand that the wages are low and the working time is long, it is the way to go. The most important thing you have to remember on the internet is: The country you come from doesn't matters, all are equal. But when you work in the countries where the wages are low, your wage will be low. The internet removes this. Good luck, live healthy and above all, have fun
Well considering the web link(http://www.onlinemoneyguild.com) you provided and the link in your sig(http://www.onlinemoneyguild.com/topic54.html - Make atleast $45 for a day - get your FREE report!) are the same. I am sure if you applied the $45 a day report you are on the right path.
Its not true. If you are good and have skills then you can make big @ software companies but everything needs time and experience. You can't be sure that you will make $300/month by flipping websites BUT it is definitely possible to earn more (much much much more) than $300/month if you expand your network and work sincerely but again, everything needs time. What ill say is if you are ready to work hard then get a day job (you will be able to meet your min requirement) and work online as well (I know its not easy but its not hard too). Once your online income is consistent and more than your day job, you may leave the day job and this way you will gain exposure and you will gain some experience as well (for the sake of resume). Again, you need to diversify your income sources and you just can't depend on DP - flipping websites. I could be wrong tooo but give it a thought. Good Luck
The Emirates Gallastico, castdead: Nice suggestions. You want me to pursue what I like to do! Thanks. lpstong: Thanks! mixke: I can make big at Software companies but after some time and experience. but In my own business, with the same time and experience, i can earn more and I also have my own websites as BIG ASSETS! If I have to go for a day job, I have to move from my home town! To have frequent access to Internet, I've to spend some bucks which I cannot afford (Expenses will grow if I stay outside my home) with my salary. So practically It is hard for me. But your advice is correct for an entrepreneur as I read in "Rich Dad, Poor Dad"! Thanks for your suggestion!
21st century is era of Freelancers/ Entrepreneurs. You already have yr degree under your belt so you have something to fall back on if your online businesses do not turn out well. But it looks like you have the passion and the interest for online biz, so IMHO that is the way to go. Give it your best shot. No pain No gain. The corporate career is a lot of BS.... it compartmentalises you into cubicles/ boxes (make you become a Dilbert) Of 'cos to each his own...many people are suitable for corporate life- low risk, stability, a***kissing but some of them also regret later in life that they did not strike out to try and achieve their dreams. Believe you are not missing anything by not working for companies and not missing any "real world" business. The people here and on the web doing online businesses are more entrepreneurial than the noobs/ suits you see in posh nice offices! All the Best and Happy New Year!
Let me tell you ientrepreneur i am in similar kind of situation ! exactly same .. Normally i would say just "follow your heart" carryon with what you are doing but trust me .its not bad getting into software companies (u get sat, sunday holidays and they wont tll u to work for 24hrs a day) gain some experience preferably 2 years , every new thing u learn or work for is an asset . i am not asking u to leave dp and go away . just give a break , join any s/w firm work for 2 years and then u will be the betterone to decide what should you do in my opinion u must join software company and work there for atleast 2 years
I agree with jhn2001, ientrepreneur you must join a software company and take experience for 2 years. I am in my final year of engineering and got a job on campus. The salary offered to around $650, wihich is the amount I made last month. I'd not be leaving DP as its my second home to me and I love spending time here. I want to own a firm some day but it'll require some kinda experience and for this I'll be joining the company. Even though I'd advice you to listen to your heart and make a choice which your heart prompts too.
ientrepreneur.. you are in a fantastic position and I wish I was in your shoes 5 years back! If I knew what I know now when I chose to go down the corporate path then I would have went down the entrepreneuer path.. The reason for this is, once you are used to a nice, safe, secure income its very very hard to leave especially when you are earning decent money. But as we all know working as an employee is a prison sentence, they tell you went to work, how to work, and how long for.. and when you can go on holiday. The freedom that comes with being an entrepreneur is more valualable than how much money you can make.. which you decide how much you earn.. not your employer!
Good luck to you. I must say I have gotten some ideas here as well. Thanks to you for posting this, and thanks to all replies Laffe
Your life. Your decision. Good Luck ! You have a point there and you didn't mentioned that you need to leave your home town to get the day job.
Get a job ? are you jocking wotk online develop your business .... Why to have a fix salary when you can make more more then any salary
