if i am doing ringtones on adwords, should i just use a few major keywords like free ringtones, and free ringtone and spend the 2.00 per click, or should i use many more specific keywords like 50 cent ringtones, kanye west ringtones, verizon ringtones, atat ringtones, tmobile ringtones, brintey spears ringtones, etc... what should i do? i did a test run with just the keyword free ringtones, and i used 1 ad, and i spent 30 dollars, i got 21 clicks, 3 leads, and earned 27 dollars, so i lost 3 dollars. please help
Always try to be as specific as you can with your keywords. Also ensure that your ads closely match your keywords. You are going to have to spend more money and run your campaign for a few solid days before you can draw any conclusions about your CTR and coversion rates.
ring-tones is actually a very competitive market you can bid on specialised ring tones like nokia ring-tones, samsung ring-tones and stuff like that
definitely follow agbeyegbe's advice and try to use more specific keywords which will cost lest per click. this should result in a lower CPA = cost per action
i tried that yesterday and i got 56 clicks, 35,000 impressions and 0 leads. it cost me 10$....i dont know whats going wrong.
should i be better off running it for about a week like 50$ a day? and should i buy keywordspy.com and get keywords from the competitors... also should i have 1 ad group and all the keywords with 1 ad, or should i have like a different ad for each keyword. 1 ad for nokia ringtones 1 ad for samsum ringtones 1 ad for verizon ringtone etc..
You should keep in mind these tools are fundamentally all scraping tools, which means that they will give you keywords that the competition is showing ads for and NOT necessarily deliberatly bidding on. This is particularly important to keep in mind when considering 'expanded broad match'. However these tools are useful in generating ideas. You just need to be aware of the pitfalls and how they work. I ran 2 of the most popular of these tools against 3 of our domains and found about 20% accuracy in the keywords we were directly bidding on, found a bucket load of new negative keywords to add to the campaigns (i.e. that we were showing for that we did not really want to be), the rest could be put down to quite relevant broad match words we were bidding on. Summary - can be good but don't use them as the entire basis of a campaign.
Try using misspellings if you cant afford for a keyword, like: free rington, ftee ringtone, etc, that might get you cheaper clicks
