ThinkProgress is now banned from the U.S. military network in Baghdad.

Recently, an avid ThinkProgress reader — a U.S. soldier serving his second tour in Iraq — wrote to us and said that he can no longer access ThinkProgress.org. The error message he received:

    http://thinkprogress.org/2007/08/31/military-censors/

There are some sites that I can agree with the military for banning; such as myspace and youtube... As they can consume a lot of bandwidth, so it's not fair to the other users...

But as for banning a website because they take a liberal stance on issues, that's not fair to our troops... I hope that if this an initiative to ban all blogs or politically natured sites, then the right-wing ones get banned as well...

Well said mate, i totally agree, however the morale of the US troops is more important than a website. I think they should ban sites which affect morale as it will affect the war, and turn it into a "new vietnam".

Obviously, this word doesn't exist if it affects your job.

It's about morale and avoiding lies. Not censoring.

    Interesting point of view :D

Next time when some "other" country censors some domain or website with proven lies or with some US made propaganda this argument will come handy I guess ;)

I'm just hoping that DigitalPoint will not be added to the censor because pretty soon down the line when either the Fuhrer Bush or Fuhrer Clinton and the rest of the insane crazy neocons overstretch an already overstretched military by unwisely attacking Iran because I am expecting up-to-the-minute reports from some of our DP Chickenhawks when they hopefully get drafted. :D

All the turkeys that have been killed over there are only numbers to these corrupt idiotic neocon fools, they are not people.

I am glad to see the ignorance on this site has yet to die.

Good for you......back censorship as long as it is pushing your agenda (propaganda).....because that would be detrimental to moral (propaganda) of our troops fighting for (propaganda) freedumbs........

Now carry out the plan of the day soldier.......

    are all liberal web-sites banned?

Or just one rediculous one? They should see if any right-wing web-sites are banned.

I think the answer to that one is very simple, they are trying to keep unbiased news away from all the turkeys over there.

If all the troops started waking up to the BS "War" they are fighting then they might start to realise that they are dying in vain for these crazy neocons and their agenda.
