Do you think there is 10 000+ free directories on the internet???

I am thinking of building a large list of directories....

Can any body give me an estimate of how much directories on the internet???

Yes, I think there are more than 10000 directories on internet. Although I dont have list but I saw someone on DP was selling the list before.

Easily more than 10,000 if you include other countries and languages.

Ive seen massive amounts of Polish directories, plenty german, french, spanish.

Take into account, the eastern european countries, plenty of those countries offer free more often than westerners do.

Definately plenty free directories Internationally.

My conclusion, us Brits, Americans etc are missing out on a bit of business i think too, were not accomodating enough still.

 

It must be more than 100000 directories, its an enormous amount.

 

But I guess most of them is small directories barely used. Also there is a lot of crappy free scripts that people set up without altering anything, so if you include them I would say at least over 50000

 

Its already been done done and at any one time there are give or take 500 free general directories you can submit to. Take a look at Info.Vilesilencer

do you want to submit to free directory which PR 0-3 or recip link which Directory PR 2-4 . ALmosts directory Which PR Higher than 4 is the paid directory,except DMOZ it is PR 8 but it free.

 

PR is not important if you are looking for back links to improve your ranking on the search engines. You get as much mileage from a link on a page in the Supplemental index as you do from a PR5 page. It depends on what you are looking for.

 

if you look at phplinkdirectory.com on the front page it says that the script it used on more then 40,000 websites so im sure some of those must be free.

 

There are probably way more than 10000, many of which will be completely obscure. But how much use are they to you if they're not in your language, won't accept your type of link, or don't pass on any visitors? This is why I prefer to use a selective list like info.vilesilencer.

If you want to add something to the directory lists field, consider compiling a short list that's sorted in a way that no-one else has done yet. For example, it would be extremely useful to have a list of foreign-language directories which also accept English websites in the world category, and vice versa. Compiling a list that could be sorted according to the primary language, and which secondary languages will be accepted, would be far more useful than yet another long list of directories that no human being could realistically reach the bottom of.

yes defintely more than 10000 directories.

 

With millions to billions of sites on the Internet on a global scale, I think it's very well possible for there to be 100,000+ free directories.

 

There probably are 10000 free directories out there. But only a very small percentage of them will actually be quality directories.

I went through a list of 3000 directories a few months ago, and only found about 100 suitable for adding to my quality directories list.

why would you wnat to do that

by the time you put this together half of them would have dissapeared

it would be a nightmare to update!
