I made a little revision of my layout i am working on and the spot where i want to place the adsense ads is not a single color so to speak, so a transparent background of the ad would be ideal otherwise it will be messy to look at. Does this option exist? because with a dual color background on a certain spot, exactly on the place where i intend to place the ads i would definately need a transparent background for making it look nice.
Too bad, it would be a nice feature though Adsense advisor i hope you seeing this and taking this consideration
Actually it is possible. And I do it. http://www.outsidethecube.net/dir/philosophy/ Set to 90%, you can see the flower on the right side. Only works with firefox... you don't change any part of the code and it violates no TOS rules.
it doesn't work with firefox. (i decreased window size to align the flower with ads, flower is under the ads, but still not as a background. ad background is still white. is this what you meant?)
I can confirm that it works in FF 1.0.7 here is a brief description on how to do it in IE: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum89/683.htm
If you are wanting to actually make the adsense background transparent, you can't. Not without violating the TOS. However, what I did has the same effect.
@subigo, your site does show some transparency, a little that is but you also see the outline of the size of the ad very clearly and this i like to avoid. Your flower does show underneath the ad but very subtile...almost to subtile in my oppinion so real transparency it is not in my oppinion but it sure looks nice and is a nice effort. Also transparency should be consistent with al browsers, the major ones at least. Not only IE. I just made some adjustments with the layout i am working on and hope this transparency option will be implemented by G in the near future, i sure hope they take our views seriously when it comes to feature requests.
And it is transparent! Look at the right of your screenshot, the background of the ad is not even (correct word?). The opacity is set to 90, setting it to a lower value would make it more easy to se the transparency effect...
What you can do is just to put a gradient below the Adsene link unit and it will look like if the Adsense was a gradient. Actually it is just an optical effect. Check out the layout of this site: www.bestwebgallery.com and you will see what I mean.
Would be a nice feature... but doubt it'll ever happen. Users would be able to blend way to much for G to be happy
anything is possible, they are doing it at linux.com not sure what the deal is there though, they might be big enough to have a personal google ads rep that lets them to WTF they want. Anyone know how they are displaying the google ads at the top of the page. Would be cool do display ads like them
