Do you think bid directory owners ever 'outbid' you much like people would do on ebay to jack up the price knowing you will go higher? Or am I way off base with this assumption.
I am sure that some bid directory owners do do this. However I am also sure that there are alot more bidding directory owners that do not. With any business online you are going to run into those that will do everything right, and then you will have the very few that simply want to try and make as much as possible in a short amount of time and then split. The ones that have been around for a while you can see that their other sites, if listed, only have the minimum bid placed for their sites, an thus giving you the bidder a real oppertunity. Then there are the select few that think you will not know when one of there sites keep out bidding you. You simply have to look out for yourself just like you would with any other business online.
I think, there were few.. but now I don't think so.. There might be few QBC even now, but its very easy to identify.
I would never do this. But there is always a guy in this forum who offers to "trade bids" or "triple your bids" and do noobish un-pro stuff like that.
Can you expose that person... I know there was a person who used to send PMs asking for Bid Exchange.. typical QBC
Not to be off topic here but are bid directories similar to gambling ? I have seen on other forums how they compared bidding directories to gambling. If so don't you think there would be a crackdown on these too as they said if it is a form of gambling then it is very easy for minors to acquire this and play with it. Which is really bad for the industry. Just a question.
Not at all. In a way you may want to bid higher, but its just an auction. Is buying items on ebay gambling? I think not.
so a bid directory is like e bay its auction and not gambling coz in e bay we get goods and here we get what ? but hey i just read this on other forums with some prominent dp members posting against it. dont be confused i am just asking so they will know. The thread especially of the bid directories has even been reported.
In ebay if you bid higher you have more of a chance of winning the goods in bidding directories higher bidding means more exposure - so more link juice and traffic...
How is it a bet? No event takes place....no card game, no horse race. Its just a ladder, the more you pay the more you gain.
Bidding Dir owner who bid up their bids will no more exist soon such directories will die. Such owner only live till the PR on their expired domain lives, once PR is died, so is the directory and the owner. I lot of other prefer working on their link building and PR and don't act QBC. I am sure soon in appox 3months a lot of Bidding Directories will die natural death and new will be born too. But those who are actually into this will continue to live.
So you say it is not gambling in nature. It is not a bet since no event takes place. Could you clarify this one ?
Hi NeoGen ...I was never too fond of bidding directories (just my opinion, I hope those with bidding directories don't get offended or anything) and was wondering how you can easily identify those who do jack up bids etc. Good question. I talked to a new friend of mine about 4-5 days back and he too said that bidding directories can be a form of gambling. Couldn't grasp it at first, and was wondering what others think? Yeah? Sort of? Probably not? Lol, no horses, no cards, no sports. But ask edbri and see if he lost here: http://www.webdirectorybid.com/t.html -- A pr6 link where he could have had for $76 ----so he ended up losing $791 dollars trying to get a pr7 link instead I guess there is a risk after all?
I won't go as far as calling them gambling sites. But I have my own reservations about them and at present I am studying the phenomenon. Its all about Google and how they will judge them once they get to know more of this. I am trying to chalk-out a theory and my study and theory will only be over in the first update of 2008. But again --if a site is only listing sites and without proper structure and contents - I don't really see a long-term future. Please don't get me wrong-- this is my very own personal view only.
