This made me laugh. My wife is laughing at you also. So, next are you going to prove to us that Jews are evil by quoting Josef Mengele?
I have to agree with you, these are not the "best" examples. The first set you provided is talking about God protecting his people and providing for them. But admonishing that if they turn their backs on him, there would be a price. Second verse, no responsive. I see no relation at all, other than that God sees a difference between the two. Third section, God was giving instructions to people at the time. Enemies of God might be more appropriate. I see nothing that could be used to incite Christians of today to violence. If for some reason, Christians suddenly started taking passages from the Bible and using them to justify blowing up buildings, planes, trains, automobiles, hotels, buildings, people in crowds, etc., then there might be an argument there. That's always the difference. Islam very much incites these sort of things: http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/default.htm#attacks The oft used moral equivalence of Jerry Falwell to Islamists always fails this test. When Christians start using passages from the Bible to incite terrorism, I suspect people will wake up much quicker than they have with islam.
We could debate about Republican/Bush spending over the last few years and the national deficit. We could debate about religions and why one is wrong/right, and how many are used to caused violence, murder and war. We could debate evolution since many fanatics don't believe in it. We could debate weather coke or pepsi is best (I vote coke). We could debate the best way to gain lean body mass and workout (this one please, im very interested in ) Edit: Abortion rights Gun Control Death Penalty
Gtech, well there have been religious freaks throughout the ages who used passages from the bible to justify their killings have there not? I am not stating the bible does it more so, the quran does it more so, simply that 'freaks' on both sides can take passages and read them as they wish to. It also depends on the translation of which bible you read and I'm sure the translation of the quran you read, not to mention the language you speak could infer something different compared to most who practice the religion from the readings. There are many more in the bible, those are just the first couple I came up with. Not about to read a book quoting every phrase I can possible find. Again either A you've never read the bible or B you refuse to see where 'freaks' can interpret the bible as a way to justify their violence 'even if it currently is not happening' that was my only point. I was not bashing the bible in anyway shape or form.
I'm definitely up for something other than religion again. Gets old. I know you haven't been around for one hrbl, but they get old. We need something fresh and exciting. Something without: bush boo hooing religion hurricanes war Not sure what that leaves, and as tired as I am, have nothing fresh to suggest.
Spending is one I should stay out of. I think Bush sucks when it comes to spending. Gun control - should be none. Abortion rights - what about the rights of the child? Death Penalty - Punishment fits the crime. Coke is good but my dentist made me switch to diet and diet coke sucks. I have to go with diet pepsi on that one. Religion - Im not religous, but never met a Christian who wanted to saw my head off. Evolution - Im not sure what to believe so I avoid it.
Coke with mixers, pepsi by itself, diet coke with fast food! 'wife got me drinking the shit, and when you're washing a greesy burger down you don't give a shit what it tastes like!' This one I actually am good at, to bad I don't follow it anymore though and am greatly getting out of shape at the moment
Ive got a topic. Lets talk about Clinton for a change. Clinton Legacy: The Cost of Real Corruption From the moment of Tom Delays indictment, liberal grandstanding has been relentless. Its most notable mouthpieces, led by the ever-shrill House Democrat Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, characterized the indictment as solid proof of a culture of corruption among the Republicans. Similar Democrat caterwauling greets each new suggestion that some high-ranking Republican might have outed Valerie Plame as a covert CIA operative. The left virtually salivates at the possibility that Presidential adviser Karl Rove could be the fall guy, despite the inarguable fact that Plame was neither covert, nor was her CIA status a secret at the time her name was disclosed. Full story http://www.rightconservative.com/clinton-legacy-real-corruption.html Thoughts?
Yes, the similar things Iraqis, Palestinian, Hindu, African and most other kids have had to grow up woth similar stories. You have NO idea where and how I grew up, no idea what my grandmother went through. Also, I have nothing against jews or israel in anyway - you cant go out with a jewish girl if you hate jews huh? You have never heard me say (and never will) "jews are bad" there are good and bad jews like anyone else. Hitler was actually jewish. When you want to talk about fundementalists check out "kadosh" - a film about orthodox jews. my whole point from start to finish of every debate is this simple: Assholes, murderers and other scumbags are available in every religion, race and creed. So, to say "islam, Jew" - I couldnt care less. The problem is you are trying to say " the muslims" instead of the assholes. BIG difference. No, get it RIGHT - not what you want to hear, dont back down part way, instead say "oh, yeah, its not really the US you are bashing" - as it is NOT. Once again, Mike wants 1 billion people to think the same. Not according to my musli friends, they all say im misguided and will find the light (same as my hindu and christian friends really) The EXPANSION of settlements (whilst essential for an expanding population) is causing the palestinian land being taken away 9accoring to the palestinians) I know what you are talking about, its just that you never manage to ad much to any political debate.. hence people like rob popping up saying "mike, please.." - not because he doesnt want to have to debate you, just that alot of your comments are ill thought out and cringeworthy. *glad someone noticed profits...
Right. See the post I made about how these typically go. I would have to classify that on the fence sitter side. Statement...not more, not less, but both. We always see it. You just happened to be here this time to take the role. I didn't see them as inciting violence. That there were violent times in the Old Testament, I take no issue. But you are right, you could keep posting random scriptures and I could comment on them. And every few posts, gworld would get a hardon because there's nothing he loves more than bashing America, than bashing the Bible. Donuts, anyone?
We actually agree on something. Sweet. Even for felons/minors/criminals? No limits on how many or what type? Is it really a child? At what point/time... There's overpopulation, and who wants to force a woman/man to have a child they don't want - they won't love or care for? What if they were innocent? Several cases of innocent people (proven) have been executed here. Plus.. how does killing another person solve anything or make it better? I really shouldnt drink any soda.. I'm trying to be healthy/workout (one of those things...) What religion do Nazi's believe in? This one could get ugly
Ya, many of the republicans in power are huge spenders currently - putting to shame even some democrats! Hey, maybe I do want to saw off your head. Well, I don't think I could stomach it....
I'll agree on the religious debate I'm a fence sitter As I honestly do not know enough to back it up to take it to the full strength with any real merit, other than if you're a real 'nut' you could take many phrases from the bible as a way to justify violence as people have done in the past be it incorrect of them or not. If only you could get them fresh at this time of night 'not where I live at least'
