DA, I am confused by your answer to your question. Are you saying you understand that what the muslims belief about Jesus is totally different than that of the Bible?
No Im saying that Islam is seeded from the bible up to a point including the birth of christ. Muslims dont believe jesus was the last profit.
I actually know a lot more about that situation than you may want to give me any credit for. I also know that its a very sensitive subject. I am all for israel. I don't think you have an udnerstanding what it means for the Jews to have suffered 2,000 years of persecutions everywhere, finally getting their homeland back, and then still being expected to suffer. This generation of Jews is sick and tired of bending over and saying "it's ok". I would suggest some of the other Islamic nations help the Palestinians get their feet on the ground if they are so concerned. I also know we have given Billions to the Palestinians and I would be curious to see some kind of accounting report on how they have "invested" it. SO please don't start with the whole "I know what is going on and you don't". I know one side and I know it well. Once again, I recall you having given criticism over how the situation has been handled. But the question is whether the 1948 decision is being accepted and the Jews can live peacefully where they are. Can they? And should they have some sort of laws that protect them from hatred. DA, you don't have any idea what it's like to be Jewish. And unless you have, you shouldn't judge the way you have been doing in here many times. Why am I saying all this? Because I'm about to take off and I can only imagine what will come from you regarding this topic. Your sources of information are biased, believe it or not. Everything you say is anti American or expresses extreme carelessness over what happens to Israel, the most threatened nation on earth. You should explain to the Muslim world, that it would make more sense for them to move on and build a good life for their kids. Do you know that the Arabic Congress has voted that Israel - Paletinians is the most important issue in the world for them? Those guys are obsessed. Since you are not Muslim or Jewish, I doubt you have any idea how deep hatred, fear and who knows what play a role in here. But then again, I'm an idiot and I don't know shit, right?
I'm sure I just completely misunderstood: On one hand, "there are" and "10 minutes of research on it before posting just to make certain," on the other hand you'll gladly see if you can find at least one passage. I'm sure you can understand my confusion when in one post you are certain, in the next post you are not so sure, but will see if you can find one. We should be expecting a two hundred line post from gworld any moment. It won't have what you mentioned either, but he likes to post it!
Here are some quotes both from New testament and old testament. NEW TESTAMENT Matthew 27:24-25: "When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children." This passage, probably more than any other text in the Christian Scriptures fueled anti-Judaism, and later anti-semitism. Matthew records that a crowd of Jews said a most improbable statement: that they and their children were responsible for Jesus' death. This inspired the church father Origen (circa 185-254 CE) to write: "Therefore the blood of Jesus came not only upon those who lived formerly but also upon all subsequent generations of Jews..." The Christian church taught until recently that all Jews -- past, present and future -- are equally responsible for the death of Christ. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that some 1st century Jews shared partial responsibility for causing Jesus' execution. However, most 1st century Jews were innocent. In a 1965 declaration, the church said that present-day Jews cannot be blamed for the death of Jesus. John 8:44: "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." In this passage, Jesus is speaking to Jews who, like the majority of the residents of Palestine, rejected his teachings. He says that they are sons of Satan. 1 Corinthians 10:20-21 "But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils." Here, Paul writes that the Gods and Goddesses of other religions are actually demons. In modern terms, they are Satanists. He taught that Christians are to isolate themselves from non-Christians. 2 Corinthians 6:14 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" Paul is recommending that Christians have minimal contact with non-Christians. He compares Christians to light and non-Christians to darkness. This may promote hatred of non-Christians. 1 Thessalonians 2:14-15: "...ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men." This passage has been used to promote anti-Judaism and anti-semitism up to the present time. In reality, Jesus' death sentence was ordered by Pilate, a Roman official, and was carried out by soldiers in the Roman Army. Only they had the authority to crucify slaves and non-slaves who were considered to be insurrectionists and terrorists by the occupying Roman authorities. Revelation 2:9: "I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan." Here, Jesus "claims the name of Jews for himself and his church," and is condemning other Jews as followers of Satan. OLD TESTAMENT Look now; I myself am he! There is no god other than me! I am the one who kills and gives life; I am the one who wounds and heals; no one delivers from my power! Now I raise my hand to heaven and declare, "As surely as I live, when I sharpen my flashing sword and begin to carry out justice, I will bring vengeance on my enemies and repay those who hate me. I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword will devour flesh – the blood of the slaughtered and the captives, and the heads of the enemy leaders."' "Rejoice with him, O heavens, and let all the angels of God worship him, for he will avenge the blood of his servants. He will take vengeance on his enemies and cleanse his land and his people." (Deuteronomy 32:39-43 NLT) Samuel then said: "Though little in your own esteem, are you not leader of the tribes of Israel? The LORD anointed you king of Israel and sent you on a mission, saying, 'Go and put the sinful Amalekites under a ban of destruction. Fight against them until you have exterminated them.' Why then have you disobeyed the LORD? You have pounced on the spoil, thus displeasing the LORD." Saul answered Samuel: "I did indeed obey the LORD and fulfill the mission on which the LORD sent me. I have brought back Agag, and I have destroyed Amalek under the ban. But from the spoil the men took sheep and oxen, the best of what had been banned, to sacrifice to the LORD their God in Gilgal." (1 Samuel 15:17-21 NAB) Then the LORD said to me, "Son of man, give the people this message from the LORD: A sword is being sharpened and polished. It is being prepared for terrible slaughter; it will flash like lightning! Now will you laugh? Those far stronger than you have fallen beneath its power! Yes, the sword is now being sharpened and polished; it is being prepared for the executioner! "Son of man, cry out and wail; pound your thighs in anguish, for that sword will slaughter my people and their leaders – everyone will die! It will put them all to the test! So now the Sovereign LORD asks: What chance do they have? "Son of man, prophesy to them and clap your hands vigorously. Then take the sword and brandish it twice, even three times, to symbolize the great massacre they will face! Let their hearts melt with terror, for the sword glitters at every gate. It flashes like lightning; it is polished for slaughter! O sword, slash to the right, and slash to the left, wherever you will, wherever you want. I, too, will clap my hands, and I will satisfy my fury. I, the LORD, have spoken!" (Ezekiel 21:8-17 NLT) Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT) "If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB) If a man commits adultery with another man's wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT) 1) If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you. You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB) 2) Suppose a man or woman among you, in one of your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, has done evil in the sight of the LORD your God and has violated the covenant by serving other gods or by worshiping the sun, the moon, or any of the forces of heaven, which I have strictly forbidden. When you hear about it, investigate the matter thoroughly. If it is true that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, then that man or woman must be taken to the gates of the town and stoned to death. (Deuteronomy 17:2-5 NLT) Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB) They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB) Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. "The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him." (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT)
Did you pull that unsourced material with commentary from a page called "Hate Literature within the Bible?" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...Judaism,+and+later+anti-semitism"&btnG=Search More unsourced material. It's no wonder you didn't want to post a link, huh?
Noone has any understanding of what 2000 years of persecution is like. Read other posts you have made. Thats how I judge I went out with a jewish girl for 3 years, everyone I know thats jewish will happliy tell you I have a reasonable understanding at least and NO you dont know 1 side. You know part of 1 side. I know part of 2 sides. neither of us knows enough or ever will. Anti American again huh? Still waiting for those posts from me..also, I have mave made very few comments about the israel palestine confilct because i have never seen it in a better situation in my lifetime - now watch this bit carefully: Bush seems to be trying to do something about it. Good on him. - See that did ya? To me there is no "muslim world" just a world - but you go see it anyway you want. Its about middle eastern stability, not specifically israel palestine.
My intent was not to provoke or disagree, to simply state the bible does incite violence, if you do not agree with that 'old or new testament' then either A you refuse to believe the facts or B you never read the bible. Just a few quick quotes from the bible of which I'm sure there are plenty more. I did read many more, maybe these are not the best examples. Maybe the best way to say it is most will read it possibly the way it was meant? but others on the extreme side could use it as a way to justify violence against others not of their religion, aka incite those on the extreme sides of any religion with passages such as this.
If you have jews in your own family telling you stories and nothing but depressing stories of being on the run, seeing family members killed and all that shit, and then seeing the hatred these days, you know more than you want to.[quote' Read other posts you have made. Thats how I judge I went out with a jewish girl for 3 years, everyone I know thats jewish will happliy tell you I have a reasonable understanding at least and NO you dont know 1 side. [/quote]you have an understanding from the mind, you don't feel the actual pain of those who have suffered, and you didn't grow up hearing horror stories from your own grandma whose been thru "the camp". OK I will reduce it to "overly critical of America. " Fair enough? I wished they would agree with you in the Islamic communities, but I have to break it to you: you are a sorry ass infidil, just like me In their eyes. The have voted the part that specifically identified Israel as the main problem that they se in the world. yes, whoever wants to consider himself a part of that group It was empty to you, I'm sure that there are some here that know what I'm talking about.
The entire Jewish debate, I will agree to they have the right to their own land that they now rightfully own. However those who are so pro jewish to the extent that the finally got the rights to their land back do you feel all those in the US should pack up and leave the American Indian tribes to rule the lands we took from them? I will admit I don't know that many jewish people, the closest jewish person I know is my brother in law and he is actually the most anti jewish person you'd ever know. Even his mother and other people I know from where I live who are jewish have less extreme views than those who are not jewish. Maybe it's just where I live, but it's funny seeing those who are not jewish sticking up for the rights of the jewish people and those who are jewish stating the exact opposite. Before anyone gets all pissy on the post, I'm simply stating facts from what I see in my little section of the US
