    Thanks!

yeah Directory submission services is definitely worthy. It may not bring you much traffic on your site but it will boost your backlinks and because of that you can get boost in SERP. So, directory bringing the traffic directly or indirectly.

Many quality services here on DP but you need to be selective and check the rep before you proceed with one service :)

I tried to get the link --but could not find it. But on V7N Blog -John Scott posted about an experiment that he had --with two sites similiar. --he submitted one site to 5 high PAID quality directories and another site to 700 free directories.

End result --the site that was submitted to just 5 paid directories came out on top.

Lession --Its true --there are some high quality free directories --but most of them are just link-jungles. These days -I have stopped submitting my sites to them.

In my experience, They are good for getting indexed. I submit to a few hundred
then Ina week or two get indexed by "G".
But not many of the back links I have on directories have any PageRank, and doubt they will in the near future.
also there tends to be too many links per page diluting the PageRank, or your link is on page 10 of 10 way too deep for PageRank to seep through.
But if it can be done free or cheep then it has at least some value.

see directories as way of building backlinks to your site - especially if your site is new

but i would not rely on them as a "major" source of traffic

When you pay 50$ for 500 submissions or more don't expect to get quality

I couldn't agree more. I recently learned the hard way at http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=358527

Bad submission services can actually hurt you by putting screwed up descriptions in directories

    Always check references

I have found the results in manual directory submission services minimal. I find that the manual directory submitter seems to submit your site to low visited directories. Although I tried it for the traffic gain, I think if you want to get direct traffic from it then you best try a different approach. Put it this way, "most of the traffic from these directories has come from the owners when approving your site or declining it". I've had a few where I have had about 2 - 5 uniques though, but not many.

kendall, thanks for letting me know about this thread:) Yea, 3000 manual submissions for $60... That made my day. I hope this guy understands how much time is needed for 3000 submissions (some of dirs will not work, some become paid, some reciprocal so it will be up to 3000x2 = 6000 submissions if he don't update his dir list everyday), after all that he'll need to reply to all e-mails, make a report for ALL this submissions and all this for $60. Wake up, people!

I think directory submission services are worth it.

    1. It saves you alot of time from doing a monotonous task
    2. You can do other marketing while your site is submitted
    3. I like services that add lifetime submissions, as more directories come online your site is submitted to them so you continually get more links.

    Cheers

    Thanks for the link jhnrang.
I'm also agree with anubus, it's one of the most boring things ever to submit to all the web directories:)

its great if you are lazy.

the submissions wont bring traffic, but if accepted, a backlink is a backlink:D
