So did they on the The Admin Zone, but I'm asking here, Joey For everyone else: the reason I was asking is because a friend of mine just bought a web designers forum and I want to advise him what would be good. A lot of hacks of course would not be necessary in a community so targetted. What do you guys think would be cool for a web designer's forum? Mike
I'm going to be using 3.5 soon. I might wait for it go gold, not sure yet though. As far as my favorite hacks, it's really hard to say...... there are so many.
Maybe if everyone in here mentions his favorite hack, we can also list some resource on how to implement them What do you guys think?
I think most of the best hacks are right under your nose Question is do you see them ? Also, waiting for and installing VB 3.5 Gold would be wise.
For phpbb my favorite I think is "inactive users". http://phpbbhacks.com/download/1866 It allows me to keep on real and active members on the site...also whenever spammers sign up to just spam the memberlist...I can delete them super easy all at once. I also like the cash_mod for phpbb as it really adds to the forums. I guess subscription mod should be listed since I made money every day from it.
All about mods for vBulletin: http://www.vbwebmaster.com/forums/ and http://www.vbulletin.com All about mods for vBulletin or phpBB: http://www.theforumzone.com/forums/index.php and http://www.phpbb.com Why do we need another list here? Hint: focus on innovation rather than imitation...
Because people are used to getting what they're looking for in this forum, unlike some where don't receive the info that they came to find. And about your answer, Minstrel: The Admin Zone would be the best one IMO. vbwebmaster doesn't provide really good answers and vbulletin.com is very technically oriented. I have asked people for their opinions here and not a link to another forum.
Good advice... any mods you download from a mod source means all sorts of other people are doing it too. Most the mods here were original ideas (AdSense Revenue Sharing, Latest blog entry, Music Reporter, [search] BBCode, modified [code] BBCode). Some have since been copied of course, but by the time people copy everything, I'll probably have a new idea. There are another 20 or so little things that I've done that make stuff nicer/faster that most people don't really notice. Quality/original mods is MUCH more important that quantity of mods (too many mods can actually make a forum worse IMO).
More than a few would disagree. That's hardly an unbiased opinion coming from you, is it? and that's bad because? Well, I gave my opinion and my opinion included links elsewhere.
