How do these guys work..? ( One Way Link Builders )

I was looking at the BST section, and saw many people offering one way relevant links from PR2+ pages.. These guys are available for hire (for link building) and they charge somewhere around $2-$4.

Now, the question is- how can they do it for "any" site??
I mean, if I have a sports related MFA, why would anyone give me a "one way link" ??
But these guys, charge $2-$4 per link, and get backlinks to any of their client's site?
Are they doing 3 way or something..?
I know, that these are trade secrets which no one would want to reveal, but still if anyone is willing to put some light on the topic..
    Thanks for your help.

Depends on where they live. Cost of living largely depends on profit margins. If there are a few million web site owners living in an area of poverty, then selling link spots for $1-$2 each can be managed if link brokers are accepting $2-$4 per link. That's 100% profit when you think of it. Scale it up and you are looking at some serious revenue.

I'll come in from a different angle on this one to keep it interesting

Image that they own 200+ sites ranging across all industries, perhaps they link to you from a number of sites they own probably which is why they can get you those one way links.

Maybe there so cheap because it's per link per site per month and it all adds up nicely. lets say you wanted 50 links, thats $100-$200 per month over 50 sites, 1 link on each. Now it adds up don't it?

Perhaps they email a load of people and hope some link to you without wanting a link back (it happens)?

There's a number of possibilities, me personal would be a bit sketchy about the whole thing, but I haven't seen the details to their product and it's up to you in the end :)

Yeah, that could be a possibility, but,
most of them offer, links from "80% different c-class ip"
and moreover, they charge $2-$4 for permanent links.

ahhh, the plot thickens! 80% different datacentres, easy, mod_proxy and/or different hosts

For the permanent link, that is very smart! it might be worth asking them for a few sites to check out, make sure there not link farms and the like.

Not want to sound like their doing dodgy deals but it's always best to be sure :)

mod_proxy..? (I need to find out more about this. )
    I have seen some examples.
It's like the "link" or the "resource" section of companies, stores, niche sites etc.

Mod_proxy is where you feign an IP from anywhere :) very handy

Cool, well if they are all proper company sites sounds like it's worth the cash :) if you feel they are legit sites then I'd say go for it :)

Most of these guys work by offering links from web directories that they control. They give you a link from there directory for a link to there clients site. I get quite a lot of these e mails.

Yeah, that's what.... they are doing 3 way..
I pay them, they give a link to Mr.A, and tell Mr.A to link to me. :) Smart.

A lot of the cheap links are from pages that will have 50+ links. Those links are almost worthless whatever the PR of the page.

Also, "permanent" link only lasts until their site expires. Which could happen any time (any time after their PR drops for having so many links)

Yeah, that's also a case, some links are from pages with much more than 50 links.
