ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Assailants on Wednesday slit the throats of three employees of a publishing house that distributes Bibles, the latest in a series of attacks targeting Turkey's small Christian minority.

Usually Tukish people are famous for their hospitallity, but that doesn't make it safe.

The insane religious fanatics are on the rise.

    Someone plays games on Turkey..
Something like these usually happens before elections in Turkey. Well, many people think that this is power of dark people.

Its safe, and a very popular tourist spot.

I usually go once or twice a year - at as little as $300for 1 week, all inclusive in a 5***** hotel...

As long as your in a tourist destination, they dont care what you are.
Its well known for its counterfeits - walk along the street and you'll get Rolex for $100.. Fake gucci bags, fake hilfiger shirts.. all dirt cheap.

Still a very nice place to see, if still developing.

Some nice tourist spots include the area of Antalya & Manavgat. Its been a while since i was last there though.

One of the fellows I work with had some troubles in Turkey because his wife wasn't walking far enough behind him to be "respectful" and it almost turned violent with the locals.

My buddy Ahmet is always telling me the same thing. He visits at least once a year.

    But I think he's a bit biased. :D

i m Greek and maybe may of u believe that i am about to say bad things about Turkey, but no...i wont :D

Every year Turkey gets more civilized and in my opinion is very friendly for tourists.
Reigion fanatics ruin this but its not Turkish people fault.

To answer to your question, yes i think that working in big cities is safe.

Turkey is good but still cannot compete with Greece my greek friend :) If I may say so nothing in this world can compete with Santorini :D

As far as Turkey is concerned .. didn't you people see demonstrations against religious Turkey. It is obvious that turks want secular country and that is the way to go.....I see catholic priests raping girls here but still that doesn't mean that it is unsafe to go to church or ... ?

I had to view the thread just because I saw you posted last and had to see what dribble you would post. You did fine until your last sentence. I think most of the "rapes" by the catholic priests are with boys! But nice to see you tried again to find moral equivalence with something. Although I have to disagree, I don't think it is safe to let your kids be around priests.

That is good common sense debunked. I won't let my (future) kids be around anyone I didn't trust -- no matter what uniform they wear.

In the same vein, Turkey is a wonderful place, but can not be considered quite exactly safe.

I've spent a lot of time in places that weren't exactly safe, and they do have their charms. I can't say all bad things about any place I've ever been. But, in a completely honest assessment, any travel to Turkey must involve hiding your religious beliefs.

Simply speaking your mind, which is a cherished First Amendment right in America, can be a criminal offense in Turkey. I'm not talking about a few religious zealots wielding machetes and AK-47's. I'm talking about your being arrested, going to jail, being taken to court, being tried, being sentenced by a judge, and going to prison -- all for the crime of speaking your mind honestly and openly.

This is so alien to the American way of thinking that most Americans simply cannot imagine living under such circumstances. That is a difficult concept to understand at first, because it is so subtle. Americans can rationally think about people living under those circumstances, but they cannot emotionally connect themselves with the idea that people just like them -- or even they themselves -- could live under those circumstances.
