Is anyone else seeing that the DMOZ icon is missing from the Toolbar?

Has anyone elses toolbar been updated automatically?

I don't use ie but a colleague of mine does and he just noticed today that his toolbar seems to have changed.

Indeed. I read earlier today that it happened to someone else too. Seems they auto-updated the software.

It's been missing for ages, SE. In fact, I can't even remember when it was last there but I recall someone mentioning this either here or at another forum probably a month or more ago.

One more bit of evidence that Google values DMOZ less and less as time goes on, IMO.

I don't think it's been there for the last two releases.

However, I do know my toolbar has NEVER auto-updated... no idea why it does for some people and not for others. Your colleague may have an older version.

I'm pretty sure the DMOZ button disappeared when v3 rolled out. I got it when it was still in beta, and originally thought I just couldn't figure out how to turn it on. I don't know if they update full version to full version, but I saw v2 change over time.

The AutoLink seems to have changed function since I first got v3, I think. It used to parse the page and create links to maps, books, etc. if I remember right. I shut it off and did not think about it until last week.

Recently I noticed it is giving a server not found for maps, and for books, it just highlights the isbn, but gives a dropdown redirect to Amazon.com.

Anyone that is an Amazon affiliate should look at this:

    I don't believe this!
Now it's just updated again and put a desktop search icon there...
    WTF is going on...
    It's like damn adware

(AnthonyCea - I'm sorry I ever disagreed with you).

Very strange. I have heard others talk about the toolbar auto updating but I have never had an auto update, ever, from version 1 to the current version 3. Weird.

    Update: Google says this:

Maybe my firewall is blocking the updates or something... I'm not a fan of things that autoupdate anyway, except for my antivirus and antispyware programs and the firewall... anything else should at least ask me politely first.

Okay. Now this is even more weird.

I've just posted these comments here about no autoupdates. Now I look up and there's a new option in the toolbar that wasn't there yesterday: "Search Country". And apparently no way to turn it off.

    {insert Twilight Zone music here}

Googleguy? Are you reading this thread?
