Interesting... I noticed today too that the page is not a 404. But, that same domain is still number one above the real McHenry Harley Davidson, with a new page... little more content this time around... http://www.biginfoguide.com/harley/ Looks like they just shortened the URL to the directory level with a default page. Makes you wonder...
I think that's an end-user problem (in this particular case). If the guy writing the article knew how to search he would have found his answer immediately. I did the search of: +"-5000 error" +retrospect and got VERY relevant results right up front. In the old days and apparently still a "-" means not. So his search was for a page that contains the word Error and not the word 5000 and that's exactly what he got. I came up with and tried my search before I read the rest of his article. Just before he shows his first search result he says "-5000 error" But then searches WITHOUT the quotes. Bad move since using the quotes would have got him a LOT closer.
This assumes that the average internet user knows anything about the use of quotations and other advanced search features. My guess would be that they do not.
I actually feel good knowing Adsense employees are on this board... at least we have some sort of informal communication with them! I really hate crappy MFA sites like these. There's a limit that just shouldn't be crossed for the good of the community.
That blog post made no sense, they don't even know how to search on Google. i just left a comment: "put "-5000 error" in quotes. that's all you have to do... using a - if you don't have quotes tells google to AVOID all results with whatever immediately follows the - .. so in your case, no results with 5000 would appear. that's google 101 buddy."
