    I remember 1985 pretty well. I was riding around on a BMX and burning ants with a magnifying glass. Should have been buying domains instead.

    I always thought since about 1990. But I guess that list proves me wrong.

    i registered a domain in 1999 or 1998,it was about $85/2 years ,and you must registered at least 2 years(in china).

    There are some good domains there. It's interesting to see which companies jumped on to the train in the early days assuming xerox and other companies actually were the original buyers at the time.

    Pretty much all of the domains would have been an actual company name though, wouldn't they? I mean, I doubt anyone would have bought one expecting to sell it on when its PR went up ;)
