If the images are not in public domain and royalty free what happens when the image owner sees you using his/her image that they created on your site? Seems like a "sticky wicket" there....
Warning: This is against adsense policy now http://adsense.blogspot.com/2006/12/ad-and-image-placement-policy.html
Im confused, do they actually say its againt TOS, or just say they dont want us to do it and don't like it?
What kind of a question is that? What would be the point in saying "we don't like what you are doing, but please, continue"?
i have seen many high traffic sites with images next to ads as in the pictures iin the article. thats why i asked. and in the article it never says its against tos directly...and what type of question you want to know? its a question which is worth more than your pointless comment
Did anybody do a test run with images next to ads with a border around the ads? I'm curious if the CTR would still be high.
Against TOS or not, it's ultimately Google's call. So if they explicitly say they don't want you doing it, I think that's a pretty clear message to you NOT TO PUT IMAGES NEXT TO YOUR ADS.
It is against the TOS. Why else would they be against it? Hopefully you can comprehend it from the above statement since my earlier one was apparently too complicated for you.
Yea, this method is out of the window for adsense. Maybe it will come in useful for yahoo publishers, although I am sure they will enforce a similar "law" at some point.
RupertValentino has a good point there! If you notice, this rule (or whatever you call it) is not NOW against the rules. That has already always been there - though nothing happened to any site. So I guess that they are telling publishers their preference. And they do this just to make their system look like protecting the advertisers, when indeed, they like the fact that publishers attract more clicks since they also earn from that. So it is a matter of policy. And RupertValentino is one of the few people on this forum who was actually able to notice this!
many people have gotten the OK from adsense to run images next to ads. Just make sure you get the ok before testing the waters
