Google AdSense page hijacked

Google doesn't have a problem with page hijacks.

Uh...the Google's Adsense page has been hijacked.

Jenstar covers it in most detail here:
    http://www.jensense.com/archives/2005/05/google_adsense_4.html

And I've provided a general summary here:
    http://www.platinax.co.uk/news/archives/2005/05/google_adsense_1.html

Pretty scary that a company as powerful as Google can have one of its PR9 pages beaten by a low PR upstart, in a search for its own commercial trademark.

No wonder high-brow SEO's like DaveN have been complaining about use of redirects on their client sites:

I thought they we're making progress on this most annoying issue. *sigh*.

I don't understand what the issue is here technically. If the re-fresh goes to a seperate domain, just don't make it count for F sake!

Shawn, I was skepitical as well but I think this pretty well caps it. Hijacking does appear to work with G.

Could this lead to a security problem as well? Would they have been able to log my account names as well?

Not to worry, crazyhorse. The hijacking simply involves a technique to cause Google to wrongly attribute backlinks, and to confuse one site for another, giving it a ranking it does not deserve.

This thread should tell you more:

Google need to do something to prevent this, at least to protect their pages.

    About time.

The site that appeared to inadvertantly hijack Google's own page is still in the index.

You are looking at the wrong site.

It looked quite purposeful to me. You would think they would ban them permanently for 302 redirect hijacking them, if not ban those who did it to others.

Of course, the problem is at Google, not at the sites that exploited it. Some did so innocently.

I wonder if they fixed it or manipulated the serps...

Try a toolbar search for ht tp://www all-in-one-business.com/adsense/
    (Mentioned in the jensense article)

    Are they jacking back?

    http://www.netmidwest.com/google-jacks-back.gif

Sure seems like manipulation to me.
