Nah, he just refunded to me after more than 2 weeks. The point is I was never that pissed off as in doing internet service we need to keep our cool. Eventually I got a better design done by another designer for a cheaper price. Cheers:D

Yes, a bit lol I thought this thread died a LONG time ago but he sent me this in an email. This man is ridiculous. PayPal made an error and sent him only a partial refund of $17 which I had told him to ask for from PayPal. Since he sent this email I pulled the rest of the money right out of my pocket (again) and PayPal lost my money that I sent him the first time apparently... Anyway he's still BEEN paid and I had informed him that the rest was on the way if PayPal didn't figure it out. He is paid in full now 100% as he should have been a LONG time ago but.. well, we all know PayPal.. ;P (They had an inquiry about a $100 transaction because the person that sent the money to me had their account closed so they basically put that money on hold which made him only get a $17 refund. Later that week they just stole the money right from me without getting my input. It wasn't a non-receipt, it was an "inquiry" because it seemed suspicious to them...)

No matter, he is paid back. Just tell me if you think I'm going to have to pay him $1100 as stated below for his hotel and flight to Florida from Panama as well as his attorney fee. I doubt if any of this has been purchased as of now and he has no reason to fly here..

Attached was the image pictured below:

Ouch dude, either it's fake or he's trying to go for real.

@swaggerer. The fact was, I managed to flip the situation around but I'm clever enough now to not even approach that situation, so maybe in the past I was stupid enough to do something like that but now I've learnt a lot; and I'm acting upon my learnings.

This guy is an ignorant asshole.

"He said he would sue me for showing his name on the screenshot. Had to re-edit. "

Haha. Legal cases are public records, like his other claims or threats, this one has no merit whatsoever. Of course, he is never going to file this so it is just a piece paper he sent you as a threat. You have every right to publish it and his name.

As for him wasting the time to download a form off the Internet and fill it out. That is also a joke. The fact he sent it to you via email? Why? He has no intention of filing it or trying to have you served properly. This whole thing is a joke. There is a thread here about some funeral director who was equally lame about threatening legal action. Just sit back and be amused, there appears to be nothing to worry about.

MusicLemon, I'd say just ignore this person, the more you respond to this jerk, the more you put yourself into a very odd situation, the less you respond, the less stuffs he can show in court (if he is in this for real). Bottomline, I dont think he is in for real, he is just trying to scare you off into spilling out your code and getting the money.

I have been into this far too many times to mention and refunding the money is more than enough to prove your sincerity over the matter. He is trying to sue you for lost business? was it ever discussed that he will use this for business? is he already in this business when he contracted you? If I were to go into a business and have a site/script done, I would have prepared for the worst and not depend on a programmer screwing my business (I am a programmer too by the way hehehe)

This guy is just messing around your head, so, my recommendation of just "shutting him off" your system will work the best. He may try to discredit you, destroy your reputation, do stupid things that will make you look stupid but hey, this is the internet, those things get buried in a matter of minutes, no one will remember this one month after, agree?

So as the other people suggested, to make it safe, report it to the police to get a record of this person's name on the police record and shut him off! Flying from EU to Florida and staying for court proceeding seems to be more costly than that of your $200 or less deal right?

If he really is in this for real, let him sue you, the "alleged" crime happened on the internet and you're 15, who do you think gets the vote? Paypal already voted for you... I will vote for you... anybody else?

lol it was over $96 ;P You're right, I'm done talking to him.

Edit: And yes he mentioned his business which does not even exist yet.. he's lost nothing except the money that he's already paid for his imaginary lawyer.

    Thanks!

He honestly wouldn't have sent you a copy of the form if he was actually serious. Even if he did take you to court, he's the one who'll be paying the court fees, trip, etc. His name being shown to the public is rubbish. He obviously can't sue you for that either. In fact, if you search his name in Google, it'll probably be all over the place. As a side note, he wouldn't be wasting his time talking to you over IM, and instead he would be more busy with his "business". If you send him a link to this post, be sure to tell him to take a break, as he's quite a hard worker for his new business as we all can obviously notice.

First of all, the flight alone is about 1200 from Europe to the states. Attorney fees are anywhere from $150 up to about 500.

This guy is trying to scam you. Block him and move on.

Well this guy is full of it. I hired him for some work on my site nearly 2 months ago and he never did more than 1 hours worth of work.

He seriously wasted my time and then blocked me on msn. I offered him a decent amount of money (way more than $100, and i didn't even want a full script)

He is still a kid...and im young myself, but this guy is irresponsible and needs to learn a few things in life.

I doubt you will actually get sued from this guy as i just think he is pissed you wasted his time, but eventually if you keep playing the same games with other people you can be sure something bad will come out of it.

BTW - Shouldn't you already be banned from this forum?

So this thread was useless? I don't know, but people who start useless topics like these must not have a life, at all.
