Emailing blogger won't work (I just found this out yesterday). You have to mail or fax them a DMCA copyright infringement notice. This is the email reply I got in regards to a blog post I'm trying to get taken down: Here is a blanked form I put together last night for them based on their instructions and other copyright forms I have. I must emphasize that I am not a lawyer, but this is the form I use. You're milage may vary: AGAIN, I AM NOT A LAWYER! This is only the form I created based on other forms to file copyright claims with Google/Blogspot. If you have any questions or concerns you should contact a lawyer! How you use this form is your own responsibility. Also, REMEMBER, that you are filing a legal affidavit and there are VERY SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES for materially misrepresenting yourself or filing false/frivolous claims. MAKE SURE your filing is accurate and factually correct. Good luck.
Just send emails to blogger. Or send him emails asking to take down the articles or legal action will be taken.
This is not sufficent. I sent an email DMCA take down notice to blogger and got the reply back that I posted a few posts ago. They only respond to DMCA take down notices that contain very specific things and that are either faxed or mailed to them.
Expertu, I feel you. Someone copied my whole site not to long ago. First thing is to send a DMCA letter to Blogger. If he advertises, send it to Adwords, Overture, etc. Send one to Adsense if ads are showing on his page. Note that there are slight differences in the required letters to all of the above, however he will be taken down. Unfortunately, if you do not file suit AND he files a counter-notice, he will be reinstated. If he is showing up in the serps, you must send one to the search engines. It sucks, but you have to do this. edit: the guy who stole my sites look & content was so dumb. I put random links back to my site in the content. They are still sitting on his page from when he scraped my site. He is a forum member here (sort of, only 4 posts) and else where. His handle/name is mitchmagi. Beware.
I find most people who steal content are really stupid about it making it really easy to detect them even without subscribing to services like http://copyscape.com.
This guy also has a text link ads banner with a referral id "....text-link-ads.com/?ref=22258" Is that your ref id? This guy is prob a stupid kid. I tried to leave a comment on the blog but he must have disabled it.
I question came to me via a rep vote if I am the same KLB from Sitepoint--yes one in the same. The "Sitepoint Server Guru" himself. I started joining other forums and spreading my efforts around after the Chris/Aspen incident. I now only go to Sitepoint on a very infrequent basis.
here, use this: http://www.blogflagger.com this thread gave me the idea.. it's only a couple hours old
You should make sure that rel="nofollow" is used for all links pointing to these blog posts and that the link is removed when the bad entry is finally taken down, otherwise all you are doing is adding to the backlinks for these blogs. In the end it would reward content thieves rather than punish them.
You can do tricky mod rewrite rules on your server that forbid hotlinking to your images, possibly replacing them with another ones. I would place on his blog gif images with text: "Hi, I am a pathetic thief and all the content on this site have been stolen from: http://www.yoursite.com/" or something like that.
This thread is the most valuable thread I came across. Great Minds great posts. I can say simply "wow" to KLB and his followups. Normally people giveup and that boost the scrappers. Thanks for your headup. I too a victim by a Big Player and I am following advice from this thread: https://lorelle.wordpress.com/2006/04/10/what-do-you-do-when-someone-steals-your-content/ I hired a lawyer and he is doing the needful for me, as per his instructions I cant reveal my steps as it may have another impact on me. This thread boosted my moral to a level now. Thanks! KLB
