I think they will count but not in your favor but against it. I have read many times that link exchanges from a single IP can lead to penalties from big engines like google. I don't think this is a good idea. Otherwise everyone would have regged 500 names and then they can get 500 links in one second.
Interesting comments by Nick_Mayhem. But however i doubts that really true as i know many big players in the field od SEO and web designing, hosting many websites on same IP but still maintaining ranks on google. Even many firms host 100's of sites on same IP. In my opinion there is no negative points or penality for having links from same IP, however there will be minimal or no value of those links. In other words if i have 100 sites on a same IP and have link exchanged between all of them may be google will count only 1 link. so thats a real negative point in shared IP. Will be interesting to have others comments.
Ok so lets conclude that there is no negative points for having links different domains on same IP, but does those links give any value? Any comments.
Alright. anshul123 is stating that they will count in the same fashion as if they were hosted on many different Ip’s because they are completely different websites. Best wishes, Kimmy
Well still my point is that if same IP doesn't matters then Can I host 500 domains and then give links to each other from themselves. Will one site have 499 links from others? If this thing gets answered I think all problems will be solved
I agree with Nick and thats my question as well. I have a feeling that links from same IP doesnt values much. But i would like to have more expert advise on this before finally concluding and definately DP is the best place for the same. Most of the hosting providers are moving towards shared IPs and to own a dedicated IP is becoming a costly affair.
unless you have black hat sites, I don't think so that interlinking your sites is a bad idea. If you think otherwise than quote some realiable source.
I read this in many forums and also have some personal experiances in which websites not getting ranked higher despite having a lot of linkage but from shared IP.
Hm... So, does anyone know why people think that links from different IPs are better than from one IP? Was it written somewhere? For example, as for domains - it is clearly stated in the G's "Hilltop" patent. And what about IPs?
Definately nothing is written nowhere. But by practical examples as well it seems that there is no use of having links from multiple domains hosted on same IP. I can post here examples but i think many agrees with me. But the biggest worry is that world is moving on to shared IP structure due to cost factors and therefore its a dilema whether to shift websites on shared IPs whose SEO is in process.
I don't have a definite answer, but that's something i won't do... the reason is that it looks really not nature...even my shared server from 1and1 host more than 1000 domain name, i highly doubt any of nature my link come from the same IP
Thats what even i think and i donnt wannt to shift to shared IPs but dedicated IPs are becoming costly.
I think these links can be entirely valid/valuable. For example, if I'm a web designer/host reseller, my clients are on my IP as well. on their site is a link that says "web design and hosting by xyz" that should count as a true link.
I dont see anything wrong with it. If you just go and buy 100 domains and link them together its going to be quite pointless because backlinks from these brand new sites, without any other links and 100 outgoing links will be quite worthless. If however you have an established site, linking back to a newer site should help even though its on the same IP. Now lets have a look from Googles point of view. Why would Google penalise sites linking to each other on the same IP? Just in case they cheat? But you cant cheat. The most you can do is create a huge link farm and get banned regardless of your IP. On top of that there is always this competition factor. EG joining the same shared hosting with your competition and linking back to them.
I've had plenty of luck interlinking on the same 1-2 class-C IP ranges. I have a third now and looking to expand further but Google indexes regularly. A few new links will be in Google in a few days and usually getting search traffic.
