That's kind of ironic... while I don't personally think the Yahoo toolbar is spyware (since you choose to install it), some woudl argue otherwise. I wonder if it detects itself as spyware? :)

Does this mean it'll kill all those annoying little install our crapware dialogs? :)

Does it also detect spyware that's out there? It would be nice if they can do all the spy detection and removal and give it away with the toolbar for free.

ALL toolbars should be outlawed that transfer page views back to third parties.

This is just a marketing gimmick just like all of the other toolbars to try to get users on "web rank" "page rank" or any other addictive drug that these companies try to get users hooked on.

Shawn, where is the Digital Point toolbar, you might as well get on board before toolbars are outlawed.

The funny thing is that Google has been accused by other advertising companies of using their toolbar to block competitive ads with the POP UP Blocking feature. These competitors claim that Google is breaking the law by blocking their ads, simply to gain the surfers eye for their own network of advertising products.

Yahoo coming out with a spyware blocker is simply a marketing gimmick just as Google proposing "industry self regulation of spyware guidelines".

Why would Google care about this if they were not a vendor of adware and spyware products.

This is all marketing hype and computer users need to wake up and see it for what it is. Mostly a great insult to their intelligence and nothing more than advertising programs (look at our ads, not the other guys).

Spending my time to write a free toolbar has zero value to me. I write expensive accounting/billing software. Anything we give away for free (like our tools) is because it's something we wanted to use in-house, and I have no need for a toolbar.

I'd buy it from you if it removed spyware, stopped popups, and tracked my KWs... ;)

Also, I noticed you removed a link:

Reason: signature links should be setup as a signature

Just out of curiosity, why does this matter?

Because users have the ability to turn off signatures under the control panel, and not using them makes it invalid.

As far as selling a toolbar, I really don't do any sort of commercial applications unless it has the potential to make $1M+/year. A toolbar does not fall into that category. :)

Shawn, if you put a webcam on your toolbar I would use it, maybe you could point it at the beach so I could watch the action

I said that if you were to develop one, please put a webcam on it so I can watch those wild California beach scenes. That's all Shawn, then I would use the Digital Point Toolbar.

Please do not record which girls on the beach I look at.
