I need a good script to track the traffic that comes from link exchanges. Need it to track things like number of outgoing clicks and incoming clicks. Wld appreciate some good suggestions. TKs!
Add a unique tracking keyword to your individual urls and use Google Analytics: http:// your url here dot com?tracking-keyword To track outgoing links on your webpages use the following script format and Google Analytics: <a href="http:// yourwebsitehere dot com/" onClick="javascript: pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/tracking-keyword);">anchor-text-here</a>
nice one. tks will try it. But are there any other script that will make it easy to add exchange links, track traffic coming and out? Surely there must be some good ones you guys have tried, appreciate your feedback!
Also, you can track downloads in Analytics: <a href="http:// yourwebsitehere dot com" onClick="javascript:urchinTracker ('/downloads/keywords-here'); ">
hmm.... it doesn't seem to work. I've put it on for a few days and when i filter top content in analytics, it says 0 URLs registered any idea what is wrong?
the codes to track outbound links. it doesn't register at all and nothing is found when i filter the results...
In my Analytics, I had an outgoing affiliate link get over 100 clicks in a few days and it showed up under the Content Overiew as /outgoing/[tracking-keyword] with the correct amount of clicks. <a href="http:// yourwebsitehere dot com/" onClick="javascript: pageTracker._trackPageview '/outgoing/tracking-keyword);">anchor-text-here</a> You could always click the link yourself (if it's safe to do so) to test it.
no it doesn't register even if i clicked it myself.... am i supposed to create a folder 'outgoing' or something? i placed this link on a few links where '/outgoing/aaaaa' and '/outgoing/bbbbb', etc. but not a single 'outgoing' can be found in 'top content'....
"outgoing" and "keyword" are just identifiers. I'm not sure what's going wrong. PM me an example of one of these links and I'll test it on one of my own sites.
