Thats right all, V7N is being sold! See below for details: View Site Listing John Scott is selling this high traffic forum! Established: 29 Feb 2004 700,000 Uniques/Month and 3,000,000 Page views/month. BIN: $500,000
Its a great forum, but selling it when it can make 40k a month? I say John should do webmastering full time! If your making that kind of income...
I've been a member of V7n for some time now but hardly ever post there. It does in fact have a very friendly community. As for the price, I will not comment.
http://www.infectedbybugs.com/2008/02/20/v7n-for-sale-on-sitepoint I made a post about it to, IMO V7N will go down the tubes if it is sold. Sry to say
Even if the server costs were half that out the door, that is still a large amount of money to sell for a small 500k IMO.
Its a shame, i see this as the beginning of the end for V7N. Taking a look at the auction lot its well worth a look. GT you faild to mention its not only the forum john is selling but its the full V7N network including: Forums ( http://www.v7n.com/forums/ ) with almost 40,000 members and 800,000+ posts. Running vBulletin with VBSEO. Web Directory ( http://directory.v7n.com/ ) Affiliate Program ( http://partners.v7n.com/ ) Host Ratings ( http://hosting.v7n.com/ ) Scripts Directory ( http://www.v7n.com/scripts/ ) SEO Blog ( http://blog.v7n.com/ ) Survey @ V7N ( http://survey.v7n.com/ ) Graphics Tutorials ( http://www.v7n.com/graphics/ ) Job Marketplace ( http://www.v7n.com/marketplace/ ) Tech Blog ( http://tech.v7n.com/ ) SEO Insight Newsletter ( newsletter.v7n.com ) Contextual Links ( http://contextual.v7n.com/ )
I should have mentioned that I guess But I agree, this will be V7N's downfall, not only that but I bet it loses a handful of users out of this as well. John Would you better off giving it to me to run hahaha!
Revenue is expected to drop to $10,000. That's about break even. PayPal receipts: Nov: 12,349.05 Dec: 39,246.70 Jan: 27,660.40 Those do not include 2checkout, Adsense, or direct wire transfers. 2CO usually isn't more than a couple thousand, Adsense is minimal, and wire transfers haven't been too much these days
I have been following the thread at sitepoint closely (I have a site for sale a few places underneath it in the premium sites are, so I saw it a few minutes after it was posted). I fail to see how the forum will be damaged by someone else taking over, as lets face it, very few people who dont know what they are doing are going to spend a half mill on buying a site. Frankly if anything I feel that the site is undervalued, and if it were further monetized it could/should be earning $50k per month without too many problems. If I had a spare $500,000 I would certainly buy it, but having said that if I DID have a spare $500,000 dollars I would be ona beach somewhere sipping a cocktail!
Exactly so the price is quite steep. In my opinion forums are a very risky business and there aren't that many people wanting to invest in them. If you make 10k month and have to spend 2k for hosting and salaries....
500K is a steal for the right buyer. lol, I'm a mod in name only. I barely have enough time for DP. V7N is great place but I think it's been north of a few weeks since I've even had time to login.
Modding can for sure be a big job but i agree 500k is a steal, if i had it I would have already hit the buy button.
Well, this is the aim of some business owners (ME!!!!). To get a web site popular enough to make a good decent amount of money on a regular basis and then sell it for a large profit. I hope the new owners take care of it and maybe take it to the next level. I hope full success to all parties of the transaction. Col
