I had a few keywords rejected from adCenter today. The reason given was "Website contains forbidden content - Content guidelines" I found and read the adCenter content guidlines and have to say, they can pretty much reject anything at any point based on what I'm reading there. It's pretty loose. The site is question is a reviews site and there is a mix of good and bad reviews of a certain company. There a few hundred keywords in the ad group and two were declined...everything else is still runnning fine. All I'm asking for is some consistency. I feel like everytime I add something to adCenter I'm at the casino spinning the roulette wheel. I have as much chance to hit black (approved) as I do red (declined) and what gets approved/declined is based on nothing more than chance.
If you could say what was the keyword which was blacklisted from Msn Adcenter. For instance you cannot use Google as your keyword in Adwords. More over if the keyword contains terms which are not appropriate could also removed.
I understand the purpose of the guidelines; I just don't think there's any consistency in how they are enforced. It's almost like it's completely random. Another thing I consider is this - I bet over the years I've collectively managed a few million keywords with AdWords and could almost count on one hand the number of denied ads/keywords. I've probably managed under 100,000 keywords in adCenter and couldn't even begin to count the number of denied keywords/ads I've had. On second thought I guess adCenter is consistent - consistently inconsistent
Let the randomness continue...keyword rejections today that don't make any sense. adCenter if you're listening...consistency please
Update: In mid June I launched a campign with about 200 keywords in a single ad group. Since June 26 I have received 10 e-mails letteing me know that 5 - 7 keywords in this ad group have been declined. I received e-mails on: June 26 June 28 July 1 July 5 July 8 July 10 July 12 July 14 July 16 July 18 (today) How on earth is this even remotely efficient for the advertiser or the adcenter team? Here's the kicker - the same keywords are getting rejected multiple times! If a keyword gets rejected on June 26 do I really need to be notified that it's been rejected 6 more times over the next month? I'm trying to offer some feedback here that will benefit all parties. Streamline the editorial review process, please. I can't even imagine what this would be like with tens of thousands of active campaigns...
And another e-mail today. So to update the list of dates that I have received editorial rejection notices: June 26 June 28 July 1 July 5 July 8 July 10 July 12 July 14 July 16 July 18 August 16 Again, this is from a sinlge campaign that I haven't changed since I set it up. I don't get how adCenter is handling the editorial process and like I indicated earlier, can't imagine what the e-mail flow would be like if I were really using this particular adCenter account to any extent. 11 e-mails with 3 - 5 rejected keywords each overt the course of almost two months. Ouch.
Another update, adding August 19 to the list. June 26 June 28 July 1 July 5 July 8 July 10 July 12 July 14 July 16 July 18 August 16 August 19
Possibly good news... Via http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/014558.html Why are they changing? - It is difficult to manage all agreements between affiliates and trademark holders and advertisers - It is frustrating to legitimate advertisers to go through a verification process - They want to keep relevance for the end user - It's good for everyone to have common practices, and these are inline with common practices Benefits: - Advertisers will have faster approval process
just call them qnd they willput an appeal for your keywords.. believe me they want you to advertise so they will work with you nay way they can.
I know, that's not really the issue though. The issue is their horribly ineffective editorial review process. I wanted to update this thread anyways - got another e-mail yesterday rejecting more keywords from the now 2 month old campaign June 26 June 28 July 1 July 5 July 8 July 10 July 12 July 14 July 16 July 18 August 16 August 19 August 28 13 e-mails spread over two months for a single campaign....
I'm running a campaign for the past 10 months, the keywords which are active for the past 10 months suddenly got rejected. The reason for rejection is "Landing Page Content not relevent". How come it happens?
