Drudge has been running photos all week of what you can find in google maps these days, with the street level view. Here's the latest one. Some chicks underwear. One second, caught in infamy forever. Wonder how long these will be updated, if ever? Only a matter of time before you get to people doing the naughty deed on google maps right?
Its kinda cool that you can walk up and down the streets if you zoom out a little bit. I found a bunch of people doin' boring stuff. I wish it was a night, would be more interesting then.
So where do they get the pictures for this? Is it possible to re-render satellite images to create side views like this?
looks like they had people in cars (or bikes) go up and down the roads. If you follow a street for a while, you can see cars moving in each frame
HA! That explanation sounds more accurate. Obviously, google employee's can't get to every city.... so how do we capitalize on this?
Those bus bench advertisements could possibly be a lot more profitable, if you can acquire them in a city street level mapped by google?
They have special cars with special 360de_grees cameras that film every 1 second. So what you are seeing are 1 pic/second of the actual road they are driving in and taking pictures. I dont really think this is something wrong IMO, someone else could see you on the street and tell your GF. I think that is more familiar then your GF searching google maps all day trying to find you
I happen to like it....I also read somewhere that you can request a photo be taken down for certain reasons...i think that picture of the woman's underwear would be a prime example
Damn, it's gone. Anyone happen to catch a screenshot before it went buh-bye? Edit - NM, found it on Druge. -Michael
Heh. This one is better: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=...784792,-122.502236&spn=0.015093,0.029182&z=15 Lookie at all the license plates!
Looks like its gone. I can't get it either. I know if you drive around the street level maps all over san fransisco (I did it earlier), you get lots of pictures of people doing stuff - painting their house, some homeless guy picking up cans, etc. Personally, I think its a bit too close for what anyone would need, but the bus bench advertisements might be a good investment now. "Are you looking at this on google maps? Save 10% now!"
