Carrick is apparently set to play as a holding midfielder. This should allow Gerrard, that looks in good shape, to move forward more frequently.
That is likely because of Owen's injury and Crouch's below par performances.
Nevertheless I wonder why not play Carrick, at least a few minutes in the other matches, and I also wonder why play Hargreaves instead of Carragher.
Hargreaves doesn't look in a great shape as a holding midfielder, which is his role, I hope he does better as a defender.
But after all that's pretty defensive against Ecuador, what against Brazil then?

Rooney played his socks off, and BBC said Carrick was man of the match, yet we only managed 1-0. Can my nerves stand much more? I desparately want them to play well and do well in the competition.

England’s World Cup will end Saturday. Even without Deco, Cristiano and maybe Figo we will win.

I wouldn't be so sure. I've not seen much from Portugal to be scared of, even less without Deco who is easily the best player in the side. I'm just glad it's Portugal and not Holland!

It’s funny that so many people don’t understand that soccer is a game of strategy. Portugal had no need to show off its skills with teams like Angola, Mexico or Iran because those teams where weak. They have been holding out, don’t be so sure about betting Portugal.

You could argue exactly the same thing about England

Definetely not an easy game for either, I just hope that there isn't going to be any diving, nor time waisting, I hate that!
