You can get a copy of DMOZ, right? So you can set up DMOZ clone? Is there some other search directory that distributes its copy? I'm curious to know this because I plan to do this myself (my search directory copy distribution).

I don't know if it could be of any help for you, but there is also a polish directory http://www.webwweb.pl
As far as I know it has something around 20 distributed copies on various sites.

very interesting question. It would be a good idea to distribute the database with some attribution policies, and that can help generate lot of traffic.

Websavvy (http://www.websavvy.cc/) is and/or will be syndicating it's database as a live feed to downstream partners. Hopefully Deb will complete the back-end upgrades that she has been working on and re-open the submission form soon.
